Gods group thoughts for 5/22/2012 “Seasoned with Salt”

Colossians 4:5-6Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.  (NKJV)

Yesterday, I wrote about the absolute, mind boggling peace that being filled with the Holy Spirit can and will provide the Christian, who chooses to be filled with (controlled by) the Holy Spirit… A supernatural peace (as I wrote yesterday), that allowed my 2 sisters and me to be able to bury my niece Jennifer next to her younger brother Benjamin in upstate NY, with virtually no tears… How is this possible, some of you might ask ??  How many funerals have you been to, with family shedding non-stop tears from start to finish ??

I can’t speak for anyone else but myself… This is why testimony that we as Christian’s are able to present to those around us, can become God given tools to bring glory to the Lord through our own lives, and our own experiences… People that hear our testimony with minds that are not totally blinded by Satan and his lies…will be able to visually see God’s grace through us, as the Holy Spirit gives us not only the desire, but the right words to use at the right time, to bring glory to the Lord…that are seasoned with salt

I shared my testimony about the peace God can provide, with a friend on my walk for CHD last Saturday… I thought I was there for little 4 year old Riley, who needs a heart/lung transplant…  And yes, it was so good to meet Riley and his parents who are going through enormous struggles that you just can’t imagine, unless you get involved… But when the Holy Spirit urges you to speak to someone…if you are being attentive and vigilant to the Him; you just won’t be able to hold back from sharing what God has done for you and your life…

The opening scripture was written by the Apostle Paul; where he was explaining that doors would be opened for him and his disciples to share the gospel message to the lost(toward those who are outside); if only they would pray for the right opportunity, and then be vigilant when the opportunity presented itself, as written in…Colossians 4:2-4…  Paul then goes on in the opening scripture, to remind them (and us) to Walk in wisdom; and never pass up the opportunity God presents to us to be able to share His love with-in us to others, by…redeeming the time

I pray every day for God to bring people into my life that are prepared to listen to my testimony, by praying my version of the obscure “Prayer of Jabez”, hidden in Bible genealogies in…1Chronicles 4:10… I wrote about this little prayer for three days, some time ago; and have re-posted it in God’s group on Facebook today… For those not part of Facebook, here is the link for those 3 days of writing about God’s hidden treasure of a prayer…      https://www.facebook.com/notes/gods-group/3-days-writing-on-the-prayer-of-jabez-1-chronicles-410/10150811966601437

The specific part of Jabez’s prayer, requesting opportunities for witnessing, is this, in…1 Chronicles 4:10a And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory,  (NKJV)  …After all of this preliminary writing…here is the point I am trying to make today…  We as Christians, if we are not being totally controlled by the Holy Spirit, will not be motivated to sharing our own testimony, much less the gospel of Christ, when God places someone in our path…

I only shared the gospel of Christ twice in just over 7 years, because I had taken back control from the Holy Spirit; and I am living proof, that one has to be filled with the Spirit to be both motivated and seasoned with salt… Anything less will be sharing the gospel in our own strength, and not the power of our Helper, the Holy Spirit, that God has so graciously given to all Christian’s…

These words are not just words on a computer screen… Just look at the writing of the Apostle Paul, with this scripture explaining the heart of a Spirit filled Christian, in…Ephesians 5:18-20And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,  (NKJV)

This is the actual feeling I have all the time (praise the Lord !!), as the love of Christ is allowed to take precedence in our hearts and our lives…

Heavenly Father, I pray that people in all stages of spiritual growth, would be able to see through these humble, truthful words…just how the heart of a Spirit filled Christian can rejoice with the fullness of the Holy Spirit… May these words and Your Word be used to bring honor and glory to Your name…in Jesus’ most precious and holy name and for His sake…Amen..
