Gods group thoughts for 5/24/2012 “What is the Gospel of Christ ??”

Romans 1:15So, as much as is in me, I am ready to preach the gospel to you who are in Rome also.  (NKJV)

As I started the Book of Romans this morning in my Q/T, my doorbell rang and there was a young man there to do some service work for me…  I was led to ask him this question…“Do you know what the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is all about ?”  …He said no; and I immediately knew what I was going to write about today… You see, this is the second time in less than a week…that a person has told me they have never heard of the gospel of Christ…  I am not sitting here in judgment of anyone… All I can do is write the truth from God’s Word, and let God open the eyes of those who are spiritually blinded by Satan, to understanding the gospel of Christ…2 Corinthians 4:3-4

For almost 3 years now, I have been writing about the need to understand and humbly obey the gospel of Christ, in order to be forgiven of a lifetime of sins by God’s grace… Maybe it’s time to go into a little more detail about this important teaching that the apostle Paul was chosen to preach by Jesus; when Paul (then Saul) was stricken down by Jesus… This miracle conversion occurred on the road to Damascus, where the Pharisee named Saul, was headed for a meeting on gathering up Christians for the purpose of having them crucified… Here is the link for what I believe is the most amazing conversion in the Bible… The apostle Paul went on to write almost half of the New Testament… He devoted his life to preaching the gospel of Christ and growing the Christian Church…  http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=acts9:1-22&version=NKJV

There is much in the Bible, teaching about the need to obey the gospel of Christ… Jesus called it the “gospel of the kingdom of God”, because he had yet not risen to be with His Father in heaven…Mark 1:14-15Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”  (NKJV)

Here is what wickipedia.org defines the word gospel as… The word gospel derives from the Old English gōd-spell  (rarely godspel), meaning “good news” or “glad tidings“. It is a calque (word-for-word translation) of the Greek word εαγγέλιον, euangelion (eu- “good”, -angelion “message”).  …The gospel of Jesus Christ is the good news that Jesus Christ died on the cross at Calvary, for those who choose to believe in Him; by seeking Jesus Christ to be their personal Lord, their Master, and their Savior…

The crux of obeying the gospel of Christ lies in the word repent or repentance…  This act of repenting is a change of mind about sin by the sinner, and about God; which results in turning away from sin to follow Christ…  This change in one’s mind happens through reading or hearing of God’s Word; typically by seeds that are planted by God’s Word or Christians, as they share the gospel of Christ with those around them…

The sinner must come to the realization that they are indeed a sinner who can in no way save themselves from eternal damnation… They must come before Christ…acknowledge that they are a sinner…understand that Jesus died on the cross for their sins…that Jesus was buried and rose again…and that they are sorry for their sinful life as they turn from their sins…repent of their sins…and seek Jesus Christ to come into their heart, mind, and soul to become their personal Lord, their Master, and their Savior… (the gospel of Christ)…

Make no mistake about this biblical fact… A person has to be drawn by God the Father to seek Christ, in order to become a Christian…John 6:44No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.  (NKJV)

We also read in scripture, that God calls His elect children with a call, that will be fulfilled…Romans 8:30… This process of salvation (being saved by the grace of God through faith alone in Jesus Christ), is a mystery to John MacArthur, who wrote my study Bible and over 80 books…  He admits that he isn’t even sure how his own spiritual life works, in the following video…  There is much of the Bible that remains a mystery to me…

I will post one more eye opening piece of scripture written by the apostle Paul, which explains in horrific detail, what will happen to sinners, who choose not to obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, as written in…2 Thessalonians 1:8-9in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, (NKJV)

Heavenly Father, I pray that Your Word, especially this last warning scripture by the apostle Paul…would be used by You to awaken those who You do not yet know as Your child, to the need of seeking Christ while He may still be found (Isaiah 55:6)… I also pray Lord…that Your obedient children who are not ashamed of the gospel of Christ (Romans 1:16), would share this e-mail to those they believe are not Christian’s… May Your Word work in the hearts of all those who have read this far, to do Your will…in Jesus’ most precious and holy name, and for His sake…Amen…
