Gods group thoughts for 5/26/2012 “Life Changing Proof”

2 Corinthians 13:5…  Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified.  (NKJV)

The apostle Paul wrote this opening scripture as part of a letter he sent to the Corinthians…  He was telling them when he returned for the third time, that he would deal biblically with any sin he would find when he arrived there… There were many who had gone astray from the teaching Paul had worked so hard to get across to them on his previous trip; and he was warning them to examine themselves in order to be sure they were saved…

I have spent the last 5 days explaining the absolute supernatural peace that the filling of the Holy Spirit will bring to the sinner, when they have been accepted by God into His family as a Christian… I explained what the gospel of Jesus Christ was all about, because 2 people in less than a week told me they had not heard of it; and to become a Christian, a person has to understand and obey the gospel of our Lord, Jesus Christ…

And yesterday, I wrote about the fact that there has to be a changed heart that is filled with the love of Christ, for a person to become a Christian in God’s eyes… This is the Holy Spirit given to the new child of God, that is the life long Helper Jesus promised His disciples (and us), that God the Father was going to send down from heaven, after Jesus was no longer walking with His disciples…John 14:25-30

I am amazed at the variety of answers I get when I ask someone why they believe they are a Christian…  The answers vary from… “I am a good person, and try to live my life the right way”…to… “I go to church every week and was baptized as an infant; along with abiding by all the other self-righteous works I do for the Lord, that my church tells me I must do to have my sins forgiven by God”… I would ask those with this second response to read…Ephesians 2:8-9…  Self-righteous works done in the name of the Lord are explained this way, in…Isaiah 64:6…   And Jesus warns those who believe their self-righteous works done in the name of the Lord, that they will be turned away from heaven with these false beliefs, in…Matthew 7:21-23

How can we as Christian’s absolutely know that God has received us into His family ? …The answer to this question can only be found by reading or hearing God’s Word…and then by testing ourselves to see if we are not only hearers of the Word, but that we are doers of the Word…James 1:22…  But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.  (NKJV)

There is much we can read in the Bible to confirm that we are indeed a Christian in God’s eyes… For me, it was my life changing experience that occurred just 10 years now, back on June 2, 2002…  Praise the Lord for His grace and His mercy given to a wretch like me !!…

It was 11:45 A.M. that Sunday morning; and after praying what some call the salvation prayer (Romans 10:9-11)…I suddenly felt like all the weight of the world had been taken off of my shoulders… It is a feeling that one has to experience to believe…and then you will be hard-pressed to put into words what being forgiven of a lifetime of sins by God actually feels like…

I do however; caution everyone, that it is not the prayer asking for forgiveness that automatically results in a person becoming a Christian…  It is the actual change that occurs in the heart, mind, and soul of a repentant sinner, after God sees they are sincere in seeking Christ as their personal Lord and Savior; then allowing God to impute the righteousness of Christ into the heart of the sinner, as their sins are imputed to Christ…paid for by the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross…2 Corinthians 5:21

The sinner becomes a new creature in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17-21), and their lives should be totally changed in their priorities, their speech, their attitude, and their love for the Lord…  Christ Himself dwells with-in the Christian (Colossians 1:26-29…& the opening scripture), and the nine fruit of the Spirit are given to the new Christian, as the apostle Paul so eloquently writes, in…Galatians 5:22-23…   But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.  (NKJV)

Absolutely knowing you are a Christian in God’s eyes, is too important a subject to try and squeeze into one days writing…  I will continue tomorrow on this topic that will determine where our soul (and eventually our body), will go for an eternity…after we pass on from this short life here on earth…

Heavenly Father, I pray today’s writing will be used by You, to not only speak to those who are not Christian’s in Your eyes…but to bring You the glory and the praise that You so richly deserve…  Help all of us Lord…to find something in today’s writing that can be used to draw us closer to You…and I will thank You in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
