Acts 16:7After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them.  (NKJV)

The opening scripture has the apostle Paul, along with Paul’s new protégé Timothy (and Silas), being stopped by the Holy Spirit from entering into Asia… We don’t find out all the particulars, but obviously according to the scripture, Paul knew he was not to enter Asia to preach, because the Holy Spirit stopped him…

This idea of the apostle Paul (a Spirit filled Christian), listening to the Holy Spirit…and following His direction, is something that should be automatic for all Christian’s… But how many of us as Christian’s, always follow the urging of the Holy Spirit with-in us ??  Our natural tendency as humans will always be to do what we want to do…not to go ahead and do as we are told…

Look at a young child who wants to do something against their parent’s wishes…  How often does that go smoothly ??  But God ALWAYS  knows what is best for His children…even though they might not agree with what God is trying to tell them to do, by the urging of the Holy Spirit…

Yesterday, I wrote about how we as Christian’s are to live by faith, follow the urging of the Holy Spirit; even when we are urged to do something that just doesn’t seem right, or logical to us…  I gave you a link to Dr. Charles Stanley’s personal testimony; where the Holy Spirit urged him in a different direction from his original plans; and to his amazement…things worked out beyond anything he could have possibly imagined…  I am going to re-list his message that he titled…“The Unreasonable Will of God”…  I pray that every reader spend a few minutes, and listen to his inspiring testimony…  http://itm.edgeboss.net/download/itm/audio/radio/2012/itm20120721.mp3

But what about when God tells the Christian, “Absolutely not”…when in their own feeble minds what they are about to do seems perfectly OK ??  This scenario is just the opposite from yesterdays writing…but the outcome should be the same… God always does what is best for His children…even when their thoughts don’t line up with God’s thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9)… We as Christian’s, are never to question God as to why He either directs us to go forward, when we are against something…or why we are to stop, when we see no human, logical reason for stopping…

Look at the example of Noah and the ark, which Dr. Charles Stanley used in his message…  God told Noah to build this 450 foot long boat that took approximately 100 years to build… I am sure Noah was full of questions like… “Why do You want me to build this ??  &  “Where do I get all of this material ??”…  But Noah obediently followed God’s directions… God provided…and we all know how that worked out !!

Throughout the Bible, Christian’s are called to be obedient… Jesus tells us this, in…John 14:15“If you love Me, keep My commandments.”  &  …Luke 6:46“But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?”  (NKJV)

But for the Holy Spirit to be heard by the Christian…they must be fully in tune with their Helpers instructions…  This is only possible by being in alignment with the Lord; as all sins are constantly confessed and repented of as they occur…on a day by day or even minute by minute basis…1 John 1:9

Allowing total control by the Holy Spirit, as the Christian humbly submits to the will of God…will allow the Lord to bless His obedient children with a real joy; and a supernatural peace that goes beyond human understanding…Philippians 4:6-7…  To be able to find joy, even through life’s trials (James 1:2-4)…and absolute peace, where there would otherwise be no peace…has to be experienced to be believed… But as Christian’s, we must always do as God wills us to do…not matter what we think…if we want to remain righteous in His sight…

Heavenly Father, I pray that readers will spend the time to listen to the message of Dr. Charles Stanley… I pray Lord, that his personal experience, along with the promises You provide through Your Word, would encourage all of Your children to step out in faith…and try to live their lives according to Your will and Your ways, even when what You’re asking us to do seems impossible or wrong…  I pray for this stress free, perfect peace that only You can provide, for all of our lives…in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
