Gods group thoughts for 7/25/2012 “Have You Lost Your Faith ??”

1 Timothy 4:1-2Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, (NKJV)

Any time the Christian takes their eye’s off of the Lord, Satan is right there to jump in with his deceiving, and many times enjoyable temptations… These temptations will be impossible to fend off without the full power of the Holy Spirit… The Spirit filled Christian can only remain that way by wearing God’s entire set of spiritual armor that the apostle Paul writes about, in…Ephesians 6:10-20…  Here is the link to read about the Christian’s only protection from Satan…       http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=eph6:10-20&version=NKJV

I write about this often…hoping readers will explore the 6 spiritual pieces of armor that God provides for His children to put on…to be absolutely protected from Satan’s attacks… Faith is a major part of what will be lacking, when a person is pulled away from God by Satan and his cronies… Faith is what is required by the non-believer to begin with…in order to become a Christian (Hebrews 11:6)…  And without faith, after a person becomes a Christian, they cannot please God…and they will not be rewarded for diligently seeking God…

The apostle Paul writes that faith is the most important part of God’s spiritual armor, in their defense against Satan…Ephesians 6:16above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.  (NKJV)

I was praying this morning, when I came to a young person’s name that I have been praying about for a few weeks now…  I said to myself…“Why don’t you write something about this young person, and their absolute lack of faith in the Lord…  Then when I read this opening scripture in my Q/T reading this morning…I knew God wanted me to write about loosing our faith in Him…

I don’t know this young person personally…but I am told by a family member that there is no question that they use to be a Spirit filled Christian…   Well…me being of the camp, that “Once saved a Christian cannot loose their salvation”…today I write for anyone who has lost their faith, when they use to love the Lord with all of their heart, all of their mind, and all of their soul…Matthew 22:36-40

There can be any number of reasons, why a Christian who was once Spirit filled has fallen… They might move to a new location, and be surrounded by the lusts of the flesh that become to tempting to ignore… They might let their job, or family, or anything else become more important than God… But the Holy Spirit is still residing with-in them… The opening scripture talks about…having their own conscience seared with a hot iron… Indeed, this disappearance of faith can be attributed to a slow rejection of the Holy Spirit’s urging to turn from sins… But alas…without wearing God’s whole set of armor…Satan will definitely be able to slowly gain a foothold, as the human mind rationalizes that these sins are really not that bad, or even OK…

The fallen Christian has grieved the Holy Spirit over and over to the point where He takes a back seat, and waits patiently for the Christian to realize their horrific mistake…  I am reminded of a sermon by Rev. C. H. Spurgeon, which he delivered to his congregation back on October 9, 1859…  Here is the link to his rather lengthy sermon, on…”Grieving the Holy Spirit”…      http://www.spurgeon.org/sermons/0278.htm

I pray that anyone who has lost their faith in the Lord, and wants it back…will spend the time reading this sermon, to awaken them back to the reality that God must be first in their life in order to remain filled with the Holy Spirit…  Here is a brief excerpt from this sermon…  “Who was it that brake your hard heart and made a way for the Saviour to enter and dwell therein? Oh! it was that precious Spirit that self-same Spirit, to whom you had done so much despite, whom in the days of your flesh you had resisted! What a mercy it was that he did not say, “I will swear in my wrath that they shall not enter into my rest, for they have vexed me, and I will take my everlasting flight from them;”

And this quote… Oh! When I think how stupid I have been, I wonder that he has not given me up. When I think what a dolt I have been, when he would have taught me the things of the kingdom of God, I marvel that he should have had such patience with me.”

The Lord is longsuffering… If you are a Christian, and God is not first in your life…you are missing out on the most remarkable life, that is filled with a joy and supernatural peace that goes beyond our feeble mortal understanding…Philippians 4:6-7… Find out about “The Whole Armor of God”, which I have referenced in a link above…  Put God’s entire set of spiritual armor on piece by piece every day… And find out for the first time…or re-gain that incredible experience you once had…of what living for the Lord really feels like…

Heavenly Father, I pray that anyone reading these words, who is not filled with the Holy Spirit…would just stop right where they are…and realize that You are God…Psalm 46:10Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!  (NKJV)  …Lord we know that You are in complete control of all of our lives…  Help all of us Lord, to do our very best to try and live in Your will and Your ways…  I pray for this, as always…in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
