Gods group thoughts for 8/24/2012 “The Right Choice”

“Our Daily Bread”

The Daily Devotions of Greg Laurie

Proverbs 22:2The rich and the poor have this in common, The Lord is the maker of them all.  (NKJV)

Not only are we all made by God…we were all made in the image of God… Genesis 1:27So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.  (NKJV)

It doesn’t matter if we are rich and live in a mansion in a gated community…or if we are a bum on the street, begging for handouts…  In God’s eyes, money won’t help get us into heaven… The wise Solomon (1 King 4:30), who wrote the opening scripture, also wrote this, in…Proverbs 11:28…  He who trusts in his riches will fall, But the righteous will flourish like foliage.  (NKJV)

Jesus tells the Pharisees, who were the religious leaders (and us), that we have to make a choice… We cannot serve both God and money, in…Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”  (NKJV)

Jesus goes on to teach us this, in…Matthew 25Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?” (NKJV)

Jesus finally gets to the heart of the matter with this scripture, in…Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.  (NKJV)

God must be first in our lives, in order to become a Christian…  We have to acknowledge that we are a sinner, who can in no way save ourselves from eternal damnation… We must seek Christ with a repentant heart…as we turn from our sinful ways, asking Jesus to become our personal Lord, our Master, and our Savior… This is only accomplished by understanding and obeying the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ… (See the attachment above)…

We become a Christian in God’s eyes, when Christ’s righteousness is imputed to us, as our sins are paid for by the shed blood of Jesus Christ at the cross…2 Corinthians 5:21

As Christians, we are to have faith in the Lord, and look to Him to provide for all that we need… Again, here are more of Solomon’s wise words…Proverbs 3:5-6Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.  (NKJV)

Those Christians that can be obedient to Solomon’s prudent advice, and let God take total charge of their lives…will have the abundance that God promises…2 Corinthians 9:8And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.  (NKJV)

Heavenly Father, Your Word tells us that You will never leave, nor forsake Your children…Hebrews 13:5-6…  I pray Lord, that You help all Christians to get out of their own way, and let You do what You do best… I pray for total submission to You by all of Your children, in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
