Ephesians 5:8-10For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.  (NKJV)

I spend most of my time writing for two groups of people…  Those living in darkness that are still living in the world because they are blinded by Satan (2 Corinthians 4:4), and are not Christians in God’s eyes; and those that are a true child of God, but are not walking as children of light, as they have been called to do…

These Christians that have been graced with salvation by God, have not only understood the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ…they have obeyed the gospel by truly repenting and turning from their sinful way of life; and have sought Jesus Christ as their personal Lord, their Master, and their Savior… God’s grace and His mercy has been given to them, as God receives them into His heavenly kingdom as a new child of God… From this point on, Christians should be  walking with the Lord, as a Spirit filled Christian…

The reality is, that Christians are not all living in all goodness, righteousness, and truth… I can say this, because of my own failure to be walking with the Lord…  I had somehow taken back control from the Holy Spirit; and the God given joy and the supernatural peace beyond mortal understanding (Philippians 4:6-7) that I once knew were gone, as the Holy Spirit took a step back, and let me go ahead and flounder on my own strength…

When Christians are not walking with the Lord and righteous in His sight…they are sinning, and therefore are not living in all goodness, righteousness, and truth

This is what had happened to the believers in the church at Ephesus; which is why the apostle Paul wrote the Book of Ephesians as an Epistle (or letter), to help them get back on track, as obedient Christians… Paul tells them this, in…Ephesians 5:17Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. (NKJV)  …But living for the Lord, is more than just understanding what the will of the Lord is.”  Paul goes on to give the Ephesians (and us) perhaps the most important advice that we as Christians must understand and put into practice, when he writes this, in…

Ephesians 5:18-21 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 submitting to one another in the fear of God.  (NKJV)

For a Christian to be filled with the Spirit(controlled by the Holy Spirit), they must be in total submission to God’s will and God’s ways…  They must be living for the Lord…which means He is first in their lives, as they love the Lord with ALL of their heart, their mind, and their soul…Jesus’ first and most important commandment, as written in… Matthew 22:36-38http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=mat22:36-38&version=NKJV

Paul also tells us, in this important scripture…that we should be submitting to one another in the fear of God.”… This means that the needs of those around us should be more important than our own personal desires… This goes right along with Jesus’ second most important commandment, as written in…Matthew 22:39-40 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”  (NKJV)

Married couples should always put the needs of their spouse ahead of their own… Trust me…I have been married for over 40 years, and it has only been the last 3 or so years that I have found the most peace, after I finally put my wife on the pedestal that all spouses deserve… And as I so often write…a Christian will not be able to love even their enemy, like Jesus tells us we must do, in…Matthew 5:43-44…without the full power of the Holy Spirit to overcome our own flesh’s desire to return evil for evil…

Heavenly Father, I pray that You will use Your Word in today’s writing, to open the eyes and draw in those that You do not yet know as Your child… I pray Lord, that all Christians will understand what walking with You as a Spirit filled Christian truly means…and that any existing sins (including self-control of our lives) will be confessed and turned from (1 John 1:9), as total submission is given to Your will and Your ways… I pray for this state of perfect spirituality for all of us, in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
