Genesis 3:12Then the man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.”  (NKJV)

The man in the opening scripture was Adam; and the woman was Eve…  This verse exhibits perhaps the second or third sin that this first couple committed before God…  The first sin, as I know it…was when Eve decided to disobey God, and was deceived by the serpent (Satan); and ate of the apple from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, that God has just warned Adam about, in…Genesis 2:16-17

Now we know that Eve knew God had said that this was the only tree in the Garden of Eden that was forbidden to eat from (Genesis 3:3), even though she was not yet created by God, when God gave Adam this warning…

This deception of Eve by the serpent, that this forbidden apple was OK to eat, was the first lie ever committed in the Bible…  This is why Satan is known as the father of all lies…John 8:44…  But when Eve came to Adam with fruit to eat from this forbidden tree…this was Adam’s first chance to do as God had instructed him… Adam’s first and most costly sin was to knowingly disobey God; and listen to his wife Eve…

You have heard Neil Armstrong’s world famous quote, after being the first human to set foot on the moon… “One small step for man… One giant leap for mankind !!”  Here is a link with much info on Neil Armstrong; including his life, and an audio of his famous first step on the moon…  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neil_Armstrong

Adam’s first sin was one small sin for man…but one giant mistake for all of mankind… God punished Eve by creating tremendous pain for her and every woman thereafter, during childbirth (Genesis 3:16)…  But God punished Adam (and all mankind), by kicking him out of the paradise of the Garden of Eden, cursing him with the sin, and by forever making him toil to provide food for him and Eve to eat (Genesis 3:17-19)…

From this point to the present time, every child that has ever been born, had been born with a sin nature…  We are all sinners from birth, because of Adam’s original sin…Romans 5:12Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned— (NKJV)

There are a few lessons to be learned from Adam and Eve’s original sin…  Satan will be a constant threat, always trying to deceive both the unbelievers, and those that become part of God’s family as Christians… 1 Peter 5:8Be sober, be vigilant; becauseyour adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.  (NKJV)

The second lesson, if you are a Christian…is to never let anyone (fellow believer of not) persuade you into sinning, when you know it is wrong in God’s eyes… God will give the Christian a way to escape from any temptation, if the urging of the Holy Spirit is stronger than the fleshly urge to go ahead and sin…1 Corinthians 10:13No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.  (NKJV)

A third lesson to be learned from the opening scripture, is to not blame someone else when you are dragged into sinning, like Adam did…  He knew it was wrong to listen to Eve, and do as she requested…when Adam knew full well he would be sinning against God…  When there is ever a choice to please man, ahead of pleasing God…Christians must always obey God first, or fall into sin; even though they may be displeasing someone that they love…

Here are two pieces of scripture supporting my thoughts; and the Apostle Paul wrote both…Galatians 1:10 For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.  (NKJV)

1 Thessalonians 2:4But as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who tests our hearts.  (NKJV)

The Bible is filled from cover to cover, with everything a person has to know, in order to equip themselves with the knowledge and the wisdom needed to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord…2 timothy 3:16-17… It is up to us as mere humans, to open the magnificent Word of God; and to unlock the nuggets of wisdom, and knowledge, and the mysteries that only a Spirit filled Christian will be able to understand and grow from…

1 Corinthians 2:13-14These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.  (NKJV)

Heavenly Father, help all of Your children to do their best to live righteously in Your sight, by confessing and repenting of all sins as soon as they occur…1 John 1:9…  Lord, give us the urge to open and to read Your Word; with complete understanding, of all that You would like Your children to learn… And Lord, help us to love those around us, like You love us…in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
