Gods group thoughts for 11/23/2012 “Food for Thought”

“Our Daily Bread”

The Daily Devotions of Greg Laurie

2 Corinthians 11:13-14For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.  (NKJV)

The Bible is filled with warnings about deception from false prophets and Satan himself, as we see in the opening scripture written by the Apostle Paul…  Satan is known by many other names in the Bible… Some of the most descriptive names are…the “father of lies” (John 8:44)…  the “power of darkness” (Colossians 1:13-14)… and the “god of this age”…2 Corinthians 4:4whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.  (NKJV)

The fact that the opening scripture tells us that Satan is capable of transforming himself into an angel of light, should give all of us cause for concern…  Satan is without question, the most powerful ruler of this world (John 12:31-31); whose power is only topped by God Himself… Satan and his band of fallen angels (Galatians 1:8) will ensnare all humans with the bonds of sin, making them slaves of sin (Romans 6:16-17)…

And the problem with much of the sins that humans are ensnared with, is that they are lustful sins that humans won’t give up, or can’t stop…because they cannot be stopped in our own mortal strength… Because Satan is a master of disguise, many of the sins that we are tempted with, don’t even appear to be sins at all…

The only hope of defeating Satan, and breaking the bonds of sin, is by becoming a Christian…  It is the discerning power of the Holy Spirit given to the Christian, which helps the Christian to be able to distinguish the difference between the urging of bad spirits, and the Holy Spirit… The Apostle John tells believers this, in…1 John 4:1…  Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.  (NKJV)

The Christian that is totally controlled by the Holy Spirit, and who diligently spends time digesting what God will reveal to us through His Word (the solid food found in the Bible)…will best be able to deal with Satan and his deceitful lies…Hebrews 5:14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.  (NKJV)

God gives everyone a conscience to help them understand right from wrong… But those that know they are doing wrong, and don’t have any way of stopping their sinning…or those that just don’t care that what they are doing is a sin…I would have to say are either not a Christian to begin with, or as a wayward or backsliding Christian, they have not prayed to the Lord to take back control of their lives, along with confessing and repenting of their sins…

1 John 1:9If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  (NKJV)  …With the Lord back in charge of the Christian’s life, and with them walking again in sweet fellowship with Him…the full power of the Holy Spirit should be able to stop Satan dead in his tracks…James 4:7Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.  (NKJV)

I spent a day writing about what the Bible tells us an unredeemed sinner must do, in order to become a Christian in God’s eyes… Here is the link for this most important days writing about God’s grace through obeying the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ… https://godsmanforever.wordpress.com/2012/10/20/gods-group-thoughts-for-10202012-gods-grace-through-obedience-to-the-gospel-of-christ/

Heavenly Father, I for one am so very thankful for the truth that can be found in Your Word, the Bible…  Urge all of Your children Lord, to open and spend time digesting the spiritual wisdom, the knowledge, the way to live a godly life according to Your will…  Your Word promises that You will give spiritual wisdom to any of Your children who come to You asking for it, in…James 1:5-7… Help us Lord, as Your children…to take full advantage of Your Helper and teacher, the Holy Spirit…John 14:26… I pray for the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit to reign supreme in all of our lives…in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
