Galatians 3:3… Are you sofoolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh? (NKJV)
The Apostle Paul was writing to the Galatians believers, because they were falling prey to the Judaizers’ false teaching, that keeping the law was necessary for salvation… A few verses before this opening scripture, the Apostle Paul makes it clear that it is God’s saving grace through faith alone in Jesus Christ that is given to the unredeemed sinner (Ephesians 2:8-9), that imputes Christ’s perfect righteousness into the heart of the sinner…2 Corinthians 5:21…not any works done to fulfill the law…
Galatians 2:21… I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain. (NKJV) …Jesus tells us very clearly in God’s Word, the Bible…about the need to repent and believe in the gospel to be saved, in…Mark 1:15… and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” (NKJV)
Here is a link for this most important days writing about how God’s grace is received to become a Christian in His eyes, through obeying the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ…
The Apostle Paul writes…“Having begun in the Spirit”; meaning that the Galatians had become Christians, when they were filled with the Holy Spirit at the time they were saved… He was calling them “foolish”, because the Apostle Paul just couldn’t believe how quickly the Galatians had turned away from listening to the Holy Spirit given to them…to following a different perverted gospel the false prophets were preaching…Galatians 1:6…
A Christian today, who consistently allows themselves to fall prey to sin, instead of being guided by the Holy Spirit, is sometimes called a backslider… Anytime we as Christians take our eye off of Christ, and are tempted in our weak flesh to sin…we too should be considered foolish like the Galatians… Christians are made perfect in Christ…Colossians 1:28… Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. (NKJV)
And once the Christian is filled with the “perfect” righteousness of Christ, they are called to live as “Christ like” as possible…1 John 2:6… He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked. (NKJV)
The Apostle Peter sums up this call for Christians to be holy, this way in…1 Peter 1:13-16… Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; 15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” (NKJV)
So if you are a Christian, never be a fool believing that you know better than the Lord, or the leading of the Holy Spirit with-in you… God never makes a mistake… Keep God first in your life… Follow the leading of the Holy Spirit all of the time… You will be amazed at how your stupid mistakes will be changed into the right choices… You will be walking with the Lord, pleasing Him as one of the Lord’s obedient children… And the joy of this fullness in Christ will give you a supernatural peace that you will find in no other way…Philippians 4:6-7…
Let me close with this scripture written by the wise Solomon, from…Proverbs 3:5-6… Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. (NKJV)
Heavenly Father, help all of Your children to understand that You will always lead them in the right direction… Help us to always trust in faith, that no matter what…we should be trying to please You before pleasing ourselves or those around us…Galatians 1:10… And Father…open the eyes of those who You don’t know as Your children… Draw them to Yourself, Father (John 6:44), and urge them to repent and turn from their sins; as they seek Your Son Jesus Christ to become their personal Lord and Savior… I pray for all hearts to be filled with the love of Christ, in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
