Gods group thoughts for 11/28/2012 “From a Burden to a Bridge”

“Our Daily Bread”

The Daily Devotions of Greg Laurie

Philippians 4:10-11But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at last your care for me has flourished again; though you surely did care, but you lacked opportunity. 11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content:  (NKJV)

I wrote a couple of days ago, about how the Apostle Paul was given what he called a thorn in his side by God, that God would not take away (2 Corinthians 12:8)…  It was titled…“God’s Pure Grace”; and God told the Apostle Paul this, in…2 Corinthians 12:9a…   And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”  (NKJV)

When we run into hard times as a Christian, we have one of two choices… We can consider the trial God has given us to be a burden; or we can use the difficult times we will all go through to temper us…to make us stronger…and to bring glory to the Lord…  When we remain faithful, that whatever God decides to put us through is for our own good; then the trial that some people would call a burden, is really a bridge to bringing us through the trial, and closer to the Lord…

God is sovereign…1 Chronicles 29:11-12…&…Psalm 103:19The Lord has established His throne in heaven, And His kingdom rules over all.  (NKJV)  …God is in charge of all of our lives…  And since God is perfect, and never makes any mistakes…our attitude as a Christian should always be to see the glass as being “half full”, instead of “half empty”…

Fear and anxiety are always caused by Satan or the Christian’s lack of faith (Romans 8:15-16)… Those that are not Christian’s in God’s eyes, have no way of experiencing the peace God gives the Christian, through the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit… The unredeemed sinner will always see the trials and pitfalls of life as a burden upon them… But the Christian who remains faithful to the Lord by keeping Him first in their lives, and who understands that God uses all things for the good of His children (Romans 8:28), should be able to find joy, and even peace through the trials that will emerge in our lives…

The Apostle James writes this, in…James 1:2-4My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.  (NKJV)

This will sound like an impossibility to those who are not God’s children… But I am here to tell you through my personal life experiences…that allowing the Holy Spirit to control your life, will provide these rewards and blessings of a supernatural peace and a joy, even through the inevitable trials of life…that go beyond the comprehension of our meager mortal minds…

Philippians 4:6-7…  Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.  (NKJV)

I must admit that the idea for today’s writing, along with my choice of a title, came from an audio sermon I heard last Sunday by Dr. Charles Stanley; that he titles…“Adversity – Burden or Bridge Part 1”…  Here is the link to this 20 minute audio that you may both enjoy and hopefully learn from, if you spend the time… http://www.intouch.org/Broadcast/AudioArchives.aspx

Heavenly Father, I sit here in awe, when I think about the grace, the mercy, and the love that You have freely given to me…  Help all of us to see the truth from Your Word… Help us to humbly submit our lives to You; and through the awesome power of the Holy Spirit, be able to see our burdens become bridges to walking with You and Your will for our lives… I pray for this perfect peace that only You can provide…in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
