Proverbs 4:14-15Do not enter the path of the wicked, And do not walk in the way of evil. 15 Avoid it, do not travel on it; Turn away from it and pass on.  (NKJV)

We spoke about this in our mens Sunday school class a few months ago… There was a guy our older men use to know, who purposely went into bars to witness to those in need… The wise Solomon reveals to us in the opening scripture, that entering a place where Satan and lost souls abound to share the gospel of Christ, is really not a very good idea…

We need to use common sense as Christians, and look ahead in every situation as we listen to the Holy Spirit…this, to decide if what we are about to do is the right thing… What looks good to us using our own mind can very easily be a trap that Satan has set to ensnare us… He likes nothing better than to try and persuade us to sin; and will use every trick and temptation in his book of shame to achieve this… Satan and his demon associates watch our every move, and they know which buttons to push to attract our feeble mortal minds and bodies into their web… They know our weaknesses, and will use them every time they can, to tempt us into sinning…

There is only one way we as humans can turn away from sin and and pass on from it, like the opening scripture suggests that we as Christians do… We must first realize that what we are about to do is a sin… So many enticing sins look OK on the surface… We must rely on the Holy Spirit with-in us, to protect us from the temptations of Satan and our own flesh; or we will become easy pray, with no possible way to turn from the powers of this world… God puts everything we need right there in front of us, for us to take advantage of to protect us from Satan and his emissaries… If we are indeed one of God’s children, to be able to make godly decisions we must “Put on Christ” and keep Him on…Romans 13:14“But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.”  (NKJV)

I know many of you will say I am a broken record, playing the same tune over and over again…but the truth to the secret of understanding what sin is, and then fighting sin and temptation…is given to us by the apostle Paul in…Ephesians 6:10-20… To remain strong as a Christian, we must stay filled with (totally controlled by) the Holy Spirit… And to do this, our “Putting on Christ” amounts to putting on “The whole armor of God”…

Ephesians 6:11Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.  (NKJV)   …Here is the link to all of this important scripture… http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=eph6:10-20&version=NKJV

“The Whole Armor of God”, boils down to reading God’s Word (the sword of the Spirit), to understand the truth that is found in the Bible to become one of God’s children (gird your waist with truth)… The Bible is clear, that one becomes a child of God through faith, and faith alone in Jesus Christ as one’s personal Lord and Savior (picking up the shield of faith); as the sinner seeks Christ with a repentant heart; turning from their sins and asking Christ to take charge of their lives… By Gods grace and His mercy, God will gift the sinner with salvation and a room in His mansion in heaven (John14:2-4), only after God sees their changed heart filled with the love of Christ (the helmet of salvation)… (God’s grace achieved by understanding and obeying the gospel of Christ)

You must then rely on the leading of the Holy Spirit, to live righteously in God’s eyes, as you grow in knowledge and wisdom about how to live your life in a way to please the Lord (putting on the breastplate of righteousness)… And through all of this, you must remain filled with the Holy Spirit God has given you, as your lifelong Helper to direct your every step…  All of God’s armor is held firmly in place by glue that I call prayer to the Lord…

This way of life, as we live for the Lord, is truly possible… But we must first become humble, to become one of God’s children… And then we must remain humble, as we look to Christ and not ourselves… Our strength must come from the Lord… Anything less than walking in the Spirit, will allow Satan and/or our flesh to enter back into our lives, resulting in backsliding or a lukewarm state, and victory for Satan…

I call this Spiritual weakness a victory for Satan, because even though he has lost us to the Lord as a Christian…in this state of Spiritual weakness, he has successfully stopped us from sharing God’s Word to spread the “good news” of the gospel of Christ…

The apostle James gives us wise scripture to follow, in…James 4:7Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.  (NKJV)   …It’s really not that hard to live for the Lord… But it does require total submission to Him through faith alone in Jesus Christ…and then continued submission to listening and following the leading of the Holy Spirit… Absolute peace and joy can become the mainstay of your life (having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace)… A peace that goes beyond anything you could possibly imagine…Philippians 4:7and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.  (NKJV)

I find it interesting that both Paul and James used the same chapter and verse…4:7… to give us the how, and the why we should become Christians… But it all starts with the truth you will only find in God’s Word, the Bible…

Heavenly Father, please open the eyes and the ears of those in need of an initial filling of the Holy Spirit (salvation), or a submission to the Holy Spirit in their lives, as they give Him back total control once again… Help all of us to understand the truth that can only be found through Your Word… And Lord, once we are filled with the Holy Spirit…help us to remain humble and attentive to His leading… I pray for this supernatural Spiritual filling of the Holy Spirit for all of us today, as we are urged by You into total submission to Your will and Your ways…in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
