Gods group thoughts for 12/31/2012 “It’s Time to Feast !!”

“Our Daily Bread”

The Daily Devotions of Greg Laurie

Colossians 3:16-17
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. (NKJV)

I just wrote a couple of days ago, about how we as Christians should be walking in the Spirit, if we want to please our Father in heaven…  And I equated walking in the Spirit, to being filled with the Holy Spirit…Ephesians 5:18-20

God sent the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4), to fill all the believers with their lifelong Helper that Jesus told His disciples His Father was going to send to them, in…John 14:26But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.  (NKJV)

His disciples had 3+ years of time with Jesus, and the Holy Spirit helped them to remember what Jesus had taught them…  The best way we as Christians can learn how to live lives that will help us walk worthy of being chosen as one of God’s children…is to feed our heart, mind, and soul with God’s Word, the Bible…

Jesus tells Christians that they must feed on words from God, in…Matthew 4:4But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”  (NKJV)   Jesus was speaking of Christians feeding their spiritual needs, in order to grow in spiritual wisdom and knowledge of how to live godly lives…

The opening scripture has the Apostle Paul writing to the people of the church at Colosse; telling them to Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom…  The rest of this opening scripture is very much similar to what the Apostle Paul writes to the Ephesians, when he tells them to be filled with the Holy Spirit, in…

Ephesians 5:18-20And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,  (NKJV)

Since we don’t have God to teach us like Moses and the prophets of the Old Testament…and since Jesus is not walking the earth to teach us, like His disciples…our only source of learning what God has clearly written for our instruction in righteousness, is the Bible…  If we are diligent, we will find the truth God wants us to learn from feeding on His Word…  And this truth will set us free from the chains that Satan uses to keep the unredeemed sinner in bondage…

John 8:32…  “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Living a Spirit filled life, obedient to the truth found in God’s Word…will fill the Christian with God’s richest blessings of true joy, and a supernatural peace that goes beyond our mortal understanding (Philippians 4:6-7)…  Feeding on God’s Word, and learning more and more about how to please Him…will bring us closer to the Lord…and allows God to grow closer to us…James 4:8…

The Apostle Paul tells his protégé Timothy, in…2 Timothy 3:16-17…exactly what reading and understanding God’s Word will do, to make the Christian complete in Christ… This will equip them for doing the work the Lord commanded all Christians to do, to help build His churchjust before ascending into heaven to be with His Father, in…Matthew 28:19-20

How can youLet the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, unless you take the time to read God’s Word; and then let the Holy Spirit help you remember and apply it, as God writes His Word in your mind and on your heart…Hebrews 8:10For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.  (NKJV)

Heavenly Father, I pray that You would urge all of Your children to spend a little time every day, if possible…to open and read Your Word… Help us Lord, to feast upon Your Word,to help us become complete in Christ… I pray for this spiritual wisdom, and the fullness of the Spirit for all of Your children, in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
