2 Corinthians 3:4-5And we have such trust through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God,  (NKJV)

I was already thinking about using this opening scripture to write about, from the “ODB” devotion I read this morning… But when I read the following scripture from the Book of Deuteronomy this morning in my Q/T reading…well I knew for sure, what I would be writing about today…

Deuteronomy 8:18-19And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. 19 Then it shall be, if you by any means forget the Lord your God, and follow other gods, and serve them and worship them, I testify against you this day that you shall surely perish.”  (NKJV)

Scripture right before this, had the Lord warning the Israelites that they were not to forget how the Lord had provided manna every day for the 40 years they had wandered in the wilderness…  And how their garments and their sandals had miraculously never worn out, with those 40 years of walking, because of the Lord’s provisions…Deuteronomy 8:4 & 29:5

And most importantly…when the Lord would bring the Israelites into the promised land, flowing with milk and honey…and they had eaten their full…and they had built beautiful houses…and when their herds had multiplied in numbers…and when they possessed much silver and gold…that they would not forget that it was the Lord who had provided everything to them…Deuteronomy 8:9-17… Here is the link for the full scripture…   http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=deut8:9-17&version=NKJV

How many of us Christians today, when things are going absolutely perfect in our lives…fail to not only give the Lord credit for all that we have…we fail to thank Him for the good times as well as the bad… The Apostle Paul reminds us, in…1 Thessalonians 5:17-18pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.  (NKJV)

It is God and His grace, which provides for not only all the needs of His children (Matthew 6:33)…God provides all things that pertain to life and godliness…2 Peter 1:2-3Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, (NKJV)

And when God blesses us with an abundance over and above our needs…He expects us to not only thank and praise Him…God expects us to use our abundance, to help others that are less fortunate…

2 Corinthians 9:8And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.  (NKJV)

In the opening scripture, when the Lord says this… “I testify against you this day that you shall surely perish…He is speaking of wealthy people (or anyone), who never becomes a Christian in God’s eyes; by understanding and obeying the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ… (See yesterdays writing for more information on this…  https://godsmanforever.wordpress.com/2012/10/20/gods-group-thoughts-for-10202012-gods-grace-through-obedience-to-the-gospel-of-christ/  )

But as a Christian, to be pleasing in God’s sight…we must be walking in the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18-20), by living a godly life that is as sin free as humanly possible…  Sins must be confessed…repented of…and turned from…1 John 1:9…   God must be first in our lives 24/7…  And we should be generous with any abundance of wealth, or other resources…to share the blessings God has given to us with those who are less fortunate…

Heavenly Father, Your Word is filled with promises to provide Your obedient children with blessings of joy, and peace, and love…along with every good and perfect gift…James 1:17…  Help us Lord, to never forget that all that we have comes from You… Help us Lord, to be good stewards of all of our resources…  And Lord…help Your children to love those around us, as You love us…  I pray for this perfect peace, that only You can provide…in Jesus’ most precious name, and for His sake…Amen…
