1 Samuel 3:10…   Now the Lord came and stood and called as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel answered, “Speak, for Your servant hears.”  (NKJV)

The opening scripture comes at the end of three previous calls from the Lord, to young Samuel…  But Samuel had mistaken the Lord’s call as coming from his father Eli…  This was because Samuel had not yet encountered the Lord, in a personal way…

Eli was a priest and a judge of Israel…  Eli realized, after the Lord’s 3rd attempt at getting Samuel’s attention…that it was the Lord who had called Samuel the previous 3 times…  And Eli told his son to listen for the Lord’s next call, and respond as Samuel did in the opening scripture…   Here is the link to read about Samuel’s first prophecy…  http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1sam3:1-10&version=NKJV

I wrote last Saturday (4/27), about how the psalmist, who wrote Psalm 119…had to have been a believer…because he was praising the Lord for all the ways he had benefited from understanding and applying the Word of God to his life…  And how the unredeemed sinner will read the Bible, and it will be foolishness to them… 1 Corinthians 2:13-16…   This is because the Holy Spirit (or God) will only help the believer, to discern the truth that will be hidden to the eyes and the mind of the un-believer by Satan, the father of all lies…John 8:44

Satan will use blinders on anyone not yet a Christian in God’s eyes… (See…1 Corinthians 2:13-16…or better yet…go to   www.Godsmanforever.wordpress.com   and read the writing for 4/27, by scrolling back…or by entering 4/27/2013 in the search window)

God will either use His Word to speak directly to the heart, mind, and soul of the unbeliever (Hebrews 4:12-13); or God will use His children to share their personal testimony of salvation, and/or the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, with those around them (like Samuel) that don’t yet know the Lord in a personal way…

The biggest problem with those still living in the world, with Satan as their father (2 Corinthians 4:4)…is that because of their spiritual blindness, many believe that they are already a Christian…when in God’s eyes they are not…  Becoming a Christian in God’s eyes, involves a personal one on One relationship with Jesus Christ…which only develops after the unredeemed sinner is drawn in by God, and finally realizes their dire situation…

John 6:44…  Noone can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.  (NKJV)

It is God who changes the will of the sinner…allowing them to truly understand their unsaved spiritual state…  They realize for the first time, that unless they turn from their lifetime of sins, and seek Jesus Christ to become their personal Lord and Savior, they will be separated from God when they die, to spend an eternity in hell…  God’s grace through saving faith alone in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9)…is given to those who truly understand and obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ…

Today’s writing is directed to those who have been approached by someone trying to share their faith in Jesus Christ…  God uses His children to present the “good news” of the gospel of His Son Jesus Christ to the lost, to plant seeds…  Jesus teaches us through His “Parable of the Sower” (found inMatthew 13:1-23…&…Luke 8:4-15…as well as in…Mark 4:1-20)…that the sower plants seeds in 4 different soils…   But it is only the 4th fertile soil, which God will mature into a plant that produces fruit (a Christian)…  Here is a link to my favorite version of this parable, of Jesus’ most important teaching, in… Matthew 13:1-23…

Take note of what Jesus says about those who hear the Word (the gospel of Christ), and become Christians, when God graces them with salvation, in…Matthew 13:23But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it,who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”  (NKJV)

The first 3 seeds planted in 3 various soils in Jesus’ parable, did not result in the unredeemed sinner becoming a Christian…  With the first seed was scattered on hard ground, the ears of the person being shared God’s Word, were totally closed…  The people hearing God’s Word when the second and third seeds were scattered…resulted in some growth…but eventually died because of no root structure, or because they were choked out by worldly riches…

But sinners who have been drawn in by God (John 6:44), who honestly hear someone trying to share the “good news” of the gospel of Jesus Christ with them…might have seeds that have been planted in fertile 4th soil…  If this is the case, God will grace them with salvation, after they respond to the gospel of Christ with obedience…

So the next time a Christian approaches you trying to share what God has done in their lives…and you feel the urge to actually stop and listen to them…this just might be God drawing you to Himself…  Don’t miss the Lord’s calling, like young Samuel did the first 3 times…  Take the time to listen…and learn about how God wants to change your life for an eternity…

Heavenly Father, I pray that today’s Word would be used by You, to draw anyone in need of Your saving grace to Yourself…  Unblock the ears and open the eyes Father, of those in need of hearing the truth from Your Word…  Allow Your Word through the Bible, or spoken by one of Your children…to awaken them from their dead spiritual state…  Once the truth from the gospel of Your Son Jesus Christ is clear in their minds, if this be Your will…urge them with a truly repentant heart to obey with saving faith, gracing them with salvation…  I pray for seeds to be planted that only You can mature into one of Your children…in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…

Blessings in Christ,  bruce r mills
