“Getting Rid of It”
“Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of malicious behavior.” Ephesians 4:31 (NLT)
Unless we are brain dead or in denial, we all know the sinful thoughts, words, and deeds that we need to get rid of.
The Good News is that God has provided a means to get rid of all our garbage and gives us this means as a free gift by His grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
Once we are born again, we are set free from bondage to sin, and given the liberty to live free as redeemed children of God by the power of the Holy Spirit who comes to live within us.
The key to getting rid of all our malicious or sinful behavior is to get rid of our old nature by dying to sin and becoming alive in Christ and receiving His perfect love that casts out all sin, fear, death and destruction.
When we submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ by confessing our sins and repent of them, the Holy Spirit will take charge and begin the process of Holy Transformation.
We will find ourselves being strengthened and renewed as we are filled with the Holy Spirit, and the fruit of the Spirit begins to take root and grow in the garden of our heart, where the old things have passed away and we are walking in the newness of our life in Christ.
Our desire to do evil will be replaced by the desire to love God and love and forgive others, as God has loved and forgiven us.
Getting rid of the bad, and replacing it with the goodness of God in Christ, is what Holy Transformation is all about.
Father, help me to get rid of all my sins daily so that no evil takes root, and that I can be bearing the fruit of your Spirit in all its fullness. In Jesus’ name, Amen
