“Who’s Your “Go to Guy”
“Simon Peter replied, “Lord, to whom would we go? You alone have the words that give eternal life” John 6:68 (NLT)
Most every sports team, business, church, government or any other identity has a “go to guy”.
The “go to guy” is the one you want to have the bat or the ball at crunch time. The “go to guy” is the one you go to when you want to get something done or find out the real scoop on something.
The “go to guy” is the one we want on our side in times of trouble. We all need to know a “go to guy” we can count on. We all can have the ultimate “go to Guy” when we have Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
When Jesus becomes our “go to God” He not only goes to bat for us personally, but also sends the Holy Spirit to strengthen, comfort, encourage, guide, guard, and also continually make intercession for us with God.
Jesus wants to be our friend who sticks closer than a brother. He wants to cover our unrighteousness with His righteousness so that we can be welcomed into the family of God.
When we have Jesus, we have God as our refuge and strength in time of trouble. We have God working for our good. We have a future and a hope!
The next best thing to having Jesus as our “go to God” is being a one that God can go to when He wants to get the things done that He purposed for us to do before we were ever born.
As we grow in the likeness of Christ by the transforming power of the Holy Spirit living within us, we will discover the joy of wanting to do more and more for the sake of the One who did it all for us on the Cross.
Father, thank you for sending Jesus to be my “go to God”. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Amen! God bless
