Read Philippians 4:4-9,
“Close the Complaint Department”
“The carcasses of you who have complained against Me shall fall in this wilderness, all of you who were numbered, according to your entire number, from twenty years old and above” Numbers 14:29 (NKJV)
Complaint departments are now called customer service, client relations or technical service departments, but they still receive and try to satisfy the real and imagined problems of disgruntled customers.
In spite of God’s miraculous provision, the children of Israel continued to complain and disobey so much that He banned a whole generation from ever entering the promised land.
Unfortunately, the inherited tendency to whine and complain against God and against others is alive and well, even among those who have become dead to sin and alive in Christ.
As we go through our new life in the Spirit, characteristics of our old nature that still exist in our flesh will continue to spring up, under the direction of the deceiver of our souls who continues to battle for us even though we have won the war.
Although we should never compare our righteousness with those around us as a means of fueling our hypocritical glory, we might sometimes do well to take a look at some of the real problems those around us are going through, before we start complaining about our own.
Better yet, we need to turn our eyes upon Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who died on the cross for our sins without a complaint, other than the prospect of being separated from God during His short sojourn in hell before His resurrection.
Complaining is not a fruit of the Spirit. It should never be a defining characteristic, or even said of one who is a redeemed child of God...
Father, help me to overcome any tendencies of a complaining spirit, as I live a life of celebration and praise in Christ. In Jesus’ name. Amen
P.S. Robert was writing to redeemed children of God (Christians)… Here is a link for this most important days writing, about how God’s grace is received to become a Christian in God’s eyes; through understanding and obeying the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ… https://godsmanforever.wordpress.com/2013/07/11/gods-group-thoughts-for-7112013-the-truth-about-sin/
