John 17:22-23 “And the glory which You gave MeI have given them, that they may beonejust as We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may bemadeperfect in one, and that the worldmayknow that You have sentMe, and have lovedthem as You have lovedMe.”  (NKJV)

Pastor dan from my church, suggested I read the book “Multiply” (disciples making disciples), written by francis chan…  I must tell you that this book, if read and followed, through understanding and applying God’s Word that is referenced throughout the book…has the capacity to change the life of a believer, into a true disciple (follower) of Jesus Christ…

I wrote the other day (11/18/2013) about what Jesus tells us in the Bible makes a true disciple of Christ…  I referenced part one of “Multiply”, that I found at www.multiplymovement.com under “Material” (Listen to Session), for an excellent audio description of  “What is a Disciple ?”…  Francis chan also includes 7 questions we can ask ourselves to see how we stack up to what Jesus tells us makes a true disciple of Christ…  Here is a link for this audio…  https://s3.amazonaws.com/multiply/audiobook/p1-s1.mp3  There is also an app for smart phones, which can be found by searching…“Multiply”…

Christians (when they have become a Christian in God’s eyes) have already committed to loving the Lord with all of their heart, mind, and soul…  This is the first of two of Jesus’ most important commandments, which Jesus gives us, in… Matthew 22:36-40…  But Jesus reiterates the second commandment, to love others as we love our selves, as seen by this scripture penned by the Apostle John, with these words spoken by Jesus, in…

John 13:34-35A newcommandment I give to you, that you loveoneanother; asI have lovedyou, that you also love one another. 35 Bythisallwill know that youareMydisciples, ifyou have love for oneanother.”  (NKJV)

I now understand why pastor dan suggested I read “Multiply” by francis chan…   I just finished part 5 of the audio book today, titled…“The Local Church”…where francis chan discusses how the right church will help shape and mold the church body into a unified body of Christ, with the love of Christ being the unifying factor…

The Apostle Paul pens this, in…1 Corinthians 12:12For as the body is one and hasmanymembers, but all the members of that onebody, being many, areonebody, so also is Christ.  (NKJV)

Apostle Paul then pens 1 Corinthians chapter 13, where he explains the greatest gift of all from God is love…without which we are nothing…  Here is the link for this short chapter describing the Christian’s most important attribute…love…  http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1cor12:12-31,%201cor13,%201pet3:13-16,%202:4-12,%201jn4:19,rom5:5,%20mk12:28-31,%20eph4:11-16,&version=NKJV

The Apostle Paul goes on in Ephesians chapter 4, to tell the believers in the church at Ephesus to walk worth of their calling, in…Ephesians 4:1-5I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseechyou to walkworthy of the calling with which you were called, with alllowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with oneanother in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There isonebody and oneSpirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; oneLord, onefaith, one baptism; oneGod and Father of all, who is aboveall, and throughall, and in youall.  (NKJV)

The Apostle Paul then speaks about each believer being given a spiritual gift, in…Ephesians 4:12 & 15-16for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in allthings into Himwho is the headChrist16 from whom the wholebody, joined and knittogetherby what everyjointsupplies, according to the effective working by which everypart does itsshare, causesgrowth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.  (NKJV)

Friends, I have previously written, and made repeated mention of how important it is in the life of a believer, to find the right church (1/05/2013)…with the right church doctrine, based exclusively on the Bible (1/08/2013)…and then to make use of their spiritual gift, to “Get Plugged in” to their church body (1/19/2013)…

These past writings can be found by going to www.Godsmanforever.wordpress.com and typing the date as shown above into the search window…

I believe fellowship with other believers, with one common goal of being unified in Christ, is paramount…if the believer wants to learn, grow, and mature into a true follower (disciple) of Jesus Christ…  And this unity of believers works best, when others are always placed before the wants and needs of the believer… The Apostle Paul pens this, in…

Philippians 2:1-5Therefore if there is anyconsolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if anyaffection and mercy, fulfill my joy by beinglike-minded, having the samelove, being of one accord, of one mind. Letnothing be done through selfishambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let eachesteemothersbetter than himself. Let each of you look out notonly for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Let this mind be in you which wasalso in ChristJesus,  (NKJV)

Is your church filled with visible love and concern for one another…where brothers and sisters in Christ fellowship together, beinglike-minded, having the samelove, being of one accord, of one mindto study God’s Word together in order to grow in progressive sanctification ??  (See this link for more on exactly what progressive sanctification is…    http://www.gotquestions.org/progressive-sanctification.html )

When you have found the right church, like I have…there will be no doubt that God has placed you into this body of believers…  But just going to the right church without getting involved by serving within God’s body of believers, using your spiritual gift (or gifts) that God has given you…is like going to a “make it yourself” ice cream parlor, and only watching others enjoy building and then eating their ice cream sundae…  Once you taste and see that the Lord is good (Psalm 34:8)…you will find that being an involved part of the church body, instead of a just a bystander, will be so much more rewarding, and fulfilling…

I would urge anyone living in my local South Jersey area, who is looking for a church that is a living and vibrant example of a Bible preaching and teaching church…to come out to “New Beginnings Bible Fellowship Church”…where one can truly say that we are “Unified in Love”…  See the following link for my church information…  http://www.newbeginningsbfc.org/

Heavenly Father, I pray that Your living and powerful Word would cut right to the very core of the soul of those that profess to be Christians…but who are not yet followers (disciples) of Your Son Jesus Christ…Hebrews 4:12-13…  Urge all of Your children Lord, through the power and the conviction of the Holy Spirit…if they are not now going to a Bible preaching and teaching church…to find a church that is unified with the love of Christ…  I pray for this important aspect of fellowship for every believer’s life, in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…

Blessings in Christ,  bruce r mills
