Jeremiah 29:11…   For I know the thoughts that Ithink toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peaceandnot of evil, to give you a future and a hope.  (NKJV)
Christmas time is supposed to be a joyous time of the year for Christians…but for some, it is a time of situational depression for any number of reasons…  When everybody around them is gathered to celebrate Christmas…those who have lost their job, or who have lost a family member, or who have been through a recent divorce, or who are going through some other trial in their lives…might have a hard time feeling the joy that others around them are experiencing…
With this economy in such bad shape, there have been layoffs by companies that are downsizing…by construction companies because of the housing debacle…and sometimes older, higher salaried employees are being replaced by management with younger workers at half the pay…
Satan surely uses these times of weakness and frustration in our lives, to create fear, anger, sadness, anxiety, a feeling of worthlessness, and any number of other emotions that we as humans cannot suppress or control in our own feeble strength…
Christians should be able to weather any of these storms of life, if they take the focus off of themselves and their problems, and by faith…place their trust in the Lord, remembering all of the promises the Lord makes to His redeemed children in His inerrant Word, the Bible…
Not sure you’re a Christian, saved by God’s pure grace through saving faith alone in Jesus Christ ??  Do you understand what the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is all about ??  No one can ever be good enough to enter heaven because of their own good works…Matthew 7:21-23&…Ephesians 2:8-9  Have you been praying and praying that God will answer your prayers for urgent needs in your life, and things haven’t changed ??  Here is a link answering the question…“Does God hear/answer the prayers of a sinner/unbeliever ??”   http://www.gotquestions.org/unbeliever-prayer.html
The link at the end gives a detailed account of how God’s grace is received to become a Christian in God’s eyes, after first being drawn in by God…John 6:44…
But for the Christian who has placed their saving faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, who has become their personal Lord and Savior…from the beginning to the end of the Bible, God promises to be right by the side of His children…Joshua 1:9“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; donot be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”  (NKJV)  (See also…Deuteronomy 31:6…John 14:18-28…&…Hebrews 13:5-6)
The apostle Paul pens this, in…Philippians 4:6-7Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpassesallunderstanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.  (NKJV)
Through constant prayer, letting your requests be made known to God…spending time feeding upon God’s Word (Matthew 4:4) in order to put on the “Whole Armor of God” (Ephesians 6:10-20)…and total submission to the Lord (James 4:7-8), are all key for the Christian to overcoming Satan’s destructive intervention, our own carnal flesh, and the sin filled ways of the world…  The opening scripture continues, with...
Jeremiah 29:12-13 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seekMe and findMe,when yousearch for Mewithall your heart.
God wants His children to come to Him in faith for the comfort, the hope, the joy, the peace, and the security He has promises to provide to His redeemed children who diligently seek Him…Hebrews 11:6But without faith it is impossible to pleaseHim,for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that Heis a rewarder of those who diligentlyseek Him.  (NKJV)
But God wants His children to come to Him with absolutely no wavering or doubts that He is able to provide for their needs…James 1:6-8But let him ask in faith, withnodoubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that mansuppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.  (NKJV)
Jesus Himself promises His children that He will take care of all of their needs (food and clothing, not all of their desires)…but first they must seek His righteousness by confessing, repenting of, and turning from all of their sins…1 John 1:9If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from allunrighteousness.  (NKJV)
Jesus also tells his children to take one day at a time…placing their faith and trust in Him…and not worry about the future…Matthew 6:33-34But seekfirst the kingdom of God and Hisrighteousness, andall these thingsshall be added to you. 34 Therefore donotworry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.  (NKJV)
The supernatural peace God wants for all of His children whichsurpassesallunderstanding(Philippians 4:6-7)…along with the fullness of joy (John 15:11), and the supernatural love of Christwhich passes our mortal knowledge (Ephesians 3:16-20)…can only be obtained by the Christian on a more or less consistent basis, if they learn to walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:16)…  All of this boils down to living as a disciple of Jesus Christ, as the Christian is being conformed in to the image of Christ…Romans 8:29
I spent a day writing… “What is A Disciple of Jesus Christ”, for those interested in learning more…that can be found by going to www.Godsmanforever.com and typing 11/18/2013 into the search window…
Christians can find rest for their weary souls (Matthew 11:28-29); and by God’s grace and the help of the Holy Spirit (if left in total control)…the ability to “count it all joy” when they fall into various trials…James 1:2-4…  But this is only possible when they “put on the armor of light” (Romans 13:12), and…Romans 13:14…   But puton the LordJesusChrist, and makenoprovision for the flesh, to fulfill itslusts.  (NKJV)
Heavenly Father, I pray that Your living and powerful Word would cut right to the very core of the soul of those who You don’t recognize as one of Your redeemed children…Hebrews 4:12-13…  I pray that hearts and lives would be changed by You for an eternity…and that Your children would understand the power of the Holy Spirit You have given to us to help us live in Your will and Your ways…  I pray for this fullness of Christ in all of our lives, in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
Blessings in Christ,  bruce r mills
