Ephesians 4:14-16…  Ephesians 4:14-16that we should nolonger be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with everywind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speakingthetruthinlove, may growup in allthings into Him who is the headChrist16 from whom the wholebody, joined and knittogether by what everyjoint supplies, according to the effectiveworking by whicheverypart does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.  (NKJV)
My writing for today comes from the watching a 57:27 minute video by Pastor Tim Conway, who posts video’s for www.illbehonest.com , a media ministry that is part of Grace Community Church of San Antonio, Texas…  Friends, I have listened to several video’s at their YouTube website @ http://www.youtube.com/user/illbehonest , and if you want to hear what I believe to be the truth, as presented and backed up by God’s inerrant, living and powerful Word, the Bible…these video’s will tell it like it is, so to speak…
This video I am writing about today is titled…“Strong Families Function in a Local Church”…  I welcome all readers to stop right here, and go to the following link to listen to this powerful video about why going to church as a family, and becoming involved as an effective working part of your local Bible believing and Bible teaching church body of Christ, is what the apostle Paul had in mind when he penned the opening scripture…  http://youtu.be/NCU8_Ccayx0
I wish I could go back and rewind my earlier years as a father trying to bring up 3 young children…and be able to instill in them some of God’s Word through the spiritual knowledge and wisdom I have learned (which I am still just scratching the surface now to understand), after becoming a Christian just under 12 years ago…
I see young families in my church today, and marvel at the spiritual development of many of these children; because they are being raised by one or both parents that appear to be living Christ centered lives…  My two grand-kids, now almost 8 and just 10 years old, are prime examples of Christian kids that are being brought up the way the Bible teaches us is of utmost importance…  Here is a link to some Bible scripture about training up a child God’s way…  http://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Bible-Verses-About-Training-Up-a-Child/
Without going into specific detail, I have looked at studies on church attendance taken by www.barna.org and other reputable organizations…and they all agree that church attendance has been dropping for years, to the point that there are now less than 20% of Christians polled, admitting that they go to church on a regular basis…  Those interested in these studies can find them in a days writing I titled…“Why Bother with Church”, which can be found by typing 9/24/2013 into the search window @ www.Godsmanforever.com
This sad truth about the small number of Christians who attend church regularly, I believe is absolutely the reason that the strong family structure in the USA, of families who have neglected God and the principles of godly living that our great country was founded upon, has deteriorated…right along with church attendance…
Church is not just a place that we go to every week, to fulfill our obligation…and then go about our everyday lives independent from our brethren in Christ…  Church was designed by Christ so that Christians could gather together in the unity of the Spirit (Ephesians 4:3), to put the spiritual gift God has given to each believer (1 Corinthian 12) to use, in order for the church body to function as one unified body in Christ…
The stark difference between church going believers living humble, Christ centered lives that are being conformed in the image of Christ (Romans 8:29), versus those living self-centered, prideful lives where each one is out for themselves and maybe their family…is like night and day…  With God no where to be found in the everyday lives of many Americans (except maybe on Sunday)…and families that neglect church all together…the moral standards of this country will continue to deteriorate…  If you have children or grandchildren…please consider their future lives by finding and taking them to a church filled with the love of Christ…  Don’t make the same mistake I made when raising my family, by pushing God to the back burner, or out of the picture altogether…
I have previous writing on finding the right church (1/05/2013)…on the importance of the right church doctrine that’s based exclusively on God’s Word (1/08/2013)…and the importance and blessings received by getting plugged into the right church (1/19/2013), which can all be found by typing these dates into the website above…
Chapter 4 of Ephesians is all about this unity of Spirit filled Christians, who are using their spiritual gifts along with their love and concern for their fellow brethren, in order to create a church that is filled with the love of Christ, which functions like a living, breathing body with everyone looking out for the best interest of others in their church…
As believers develop interpersonal relationships with fellow brother and sisters in Christ, they are able to encourage each other, help each other, pray for one another, and exhort one another…always speaking the truth in love, to help one another grow in their quest to being conformed more and more over time into the image of Christ…Romans 8:29…
Some might believe speaking the truth in love to a fellow brother or sister in Christ they see sinning to be wrong…   But if we are truly trying to do our best to live lives that will please the Lord…we should welcome the advice of the older, more spiritually mature Christians around us, who might have been through similar struggles…  They can offer godly advice to help us stay on track through difficult times…  I know I appreciate the advice of any fellow brother or sister in Christ, because we don’t always recognize our own shortcomings…
I am reminded of this scripture in…Jeremiah 17:9-10…  The heart is deceitful above allthings, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? 10 I, the Lord, search the heart, Itest the mind, Even to giveeverymanaccording to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.”  (NKJV)
Here is another piece of scripture penned by the writer of Hebrews, which speaks about this necessity for gathering together in church, in order to share love between brethren, found in…  Hebrews 10:24-25  And let us consideroneanotherinorder to stiruplove and good works, 25 notforsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.  (NKJV)
The opening scripture explains, what this unity of the Spirit will produce, when everyone is involved in a living church body…and everypart does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love…  Once you get “plugged in” to a body of believers that truly love and care for one another…you will wish that you had found such a church, much earlier in life, just as I do…
Heavenly Father, I pray that Your Word would stir up a new found urge for those in need, to find and attend a church filled with Your love…  I pray Lord, that You would draw those in need of Your saving grace to Yourself (John 6:44)…and that hearts and lives would be regenerated by You for an eternity of kingdom living… I pray for this fullness of Christ in all of our lives, in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
Blessings in Christ,  bruce
