Acts 1:8…  “But you shall receive power
when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”  (NKJV)
The opening scripture was Jesus’ last spoken words, as recorded by Luke…just before He ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of God the Father…  Matthew records these last spoken words of Jesus, in…Matthew 28:19-20… “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.  (NKJV)
Every Christian that has been graced by God with salvation, is given the Holy Spirit by God, as their life-long Helper (John 14:26)…  And we see Jesus command His disciples and us (if we are Christians), to “Go therefore and make disciples” of all those around us that are in need of hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ…
With this supernatural power of the Holy Spirit dwelling with-in every  believer…why are so many of us so timid about sharing the “good news” message of the cross, as Christ has commanded all Christians to do ??  I was guilty as charged to this lack of sharing the gospel of Christ, for the first 7 years after God graced me with salvation…  And when I heard someone like Dr. Charles Stanley give his explanation to help explain this age old problem of why so many Christians fail miserably in sharing their faith…well, I just had to share his message with all of you…
Here is the link for Dr. Charles Stanley’s 20 minute audio message that he titles…“Maturing in Christ”…that can be found by clicking on http://www.intouch.org/broadcast/today-on-radio by scrolling down to 3/07/2014…
I like to include these audio and video links of these well known men of God like Dr. Charles Stanley…Pastor Alistair Begg…Pastor John MacArthur…and others in my writing, because many of you (me included) would rather sit back and listen to a sermon, rather than reading words on a page…
Dr. Stanley explains that many of us become Christians saved by the grace of God, and stop right there…failing to continue our spiritual growth in the life-long process of being conformed into the image of Christ…Romans 8:29…  We go to church, and believe that sharing the gospel of Christ should be the work of the pastor or priest…  Many of us fail to open up the Word of God the other 6 days of the week…and our intimate relationship with God through a healthy prayer life leaves much to be desired…
My friends, this is just not what the Lord had in mind for His redeemed children…  All of God’s children have been called to become followers (disciples) of Jesus Christ…John 15:1-11…  Here is the link to an explanation of…John 15:1-11…that is titled…“Abiding in Christ”, that was posted by “Grace to You” @  www.gty.org        http://www.gty.org/resources/positions/P18/abiding-in-christ
Dr. Stanley uses scripture penned by the apostle Paul, found in…Colossians 1:24-29…to explain the working of “Christ in us, the hope of glory” (V 27)  …Here is the link for this scripture…  http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=col1%3A24-29&version=NKJV;KJV
Dr. Stanley tells us that this message of Christ living with-in us, is the message of the church, that all Christians should be excited to share with those around us in need of hearing about the love of Christ…so that by God’s grace through saving faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ, they too can become a redeemed child of God…
Dr. Stanley gives us a list of every believer’s responsibilities that will help us in our spiritual growth…which will, by the power of the Holy Spirit, urge us towards a deeper and abiding hunger to grow closer to the Lord…
I’m going to stop right here, and urge everyone to spend the time to listen to Dr. Charles Stanley, and this important teaching that I believe if followed, will be sure to bring blessings and growth in the spiritual fruit of the Christian…and a new found urge to share this most important “good news” message of the cross, with those in need of hearing the truth from God’s Word…John 8:31-31
Heavenly Father, I am ever so thankful for the undeserved grace and mercy that You have bestowed upon me…  I pray Father, that You will urge all of today’s readers to spend the time listening to Your faithful servant, Dr. Charles Stanley…as he shares the wisdom he has learned by being a diligent follower of Your Son Jesus Christ…  I pray Lord, that we can all be drawn closer to You through the power of the Holy Spirit working with-in Your children…  I pray for the fullness of Christ in all of our lives, in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
Blessings in Christ,  bruce r mills
P.S. Here is a link for this most important days writing, about how God’s grace is received to become a Christian in God’s eyes; through understanding and obeying the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, after first being drawn in by God…John 6:44…   https://godsmanforever.wordpress.com/2013/07/11/gods-group-thoughts-for-7112013-the-truth-about-sin/
