Read Mark 7:14-20,

Psalm 40

“What’s in Your Tank”

“THEREFORE, SINCE these [great] promises are ours, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that contaminates and defiles body and spirit, and bring [our] consecration to completeness in the [reverential] fear of God. 2 Corinthians 7:1 (AMP)

The cars we drive, planes we fly, and lawn mowers we ride all have internal combustion engines where fuel is stored in a tank and turned into energy when burned in the engine.

The lives we live are similar in that we burn energy with every breath we take or step we walk. In addition to our physical energy, there is also a spiritual energy source in the heart of every person that has its own fuel source.

Unfortunately the fuel for our spiritual energy has been corrupted by sin and we run on a tankful of pride, anger, ego, envy, lust, jealousy, greed, which fuels our spiritual energy in the wrong direction.

The only known cure for this corruption is spiritual death. We must become dead to sin and alive in Christ as born again believers.

When we receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, we also receive a new power source that fuels our energy with love, joy, peace, gentleness, patience, kindness and self control.

When we fill our spiritual tank through confession, repentance, and feeding on God’s Word, we find our minds being renewed and our hearts being conformed more and more like Christ.

This is the way God works all things for our good as we surrender self control to God control, and allow the Holy Spirit free reign to continue the on going process of holy transformation.

When God fills our tank to overflowing with His love, grace, and mercy we will have no room for the old fuel of the flesh to have any control or dominion over us.

Father, help me to keep my tank full of Your power today, that I would be and do all that You created me to be and do. In Jesus’ name, Amen
