“May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it. Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Ephesians 3:19 NLT
We all too often strive to maintain the “status quo” instead of seeking to grow into the “stature quo”. When we become comfortable with things as they are, we are reluctant to change, and certainly do not want to “rock the boat” of our comfort zone.
Business after business has disappeared trying to maintain the status quo instead of growing. In business, to stand still is to go backward. In life, to stand still often leads to letting the world pass us by.
While there are certainly a lot of things in this world that we hope will pass us by (i.e. illness, pain, suffering, temptation, failure, etc.), we dare not let our relationship with God end with receiving His wonderful gift of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.
Receiving Christ and being baptized are not the end of anything except our separation from God. They should be the beginning of everything in the life of the believer. The blessings of abiding, growing into the fullness of Christ, and being fruitful in every good work are just too good to let pass us by.
When we shortchange God by stopping short of being conformed to the image of His Son, we shortchange ourselves by missing out on the blessings that a close personal relationship brings.
As sweet as mother’s milk, or the milk of the Word may be, there comes a time when we need solid food. As Paul says: “For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.” (Hebrews 5:13)
How’s your “stature quo?”
Father, let me enjoy my life to the fullest by growing into Your fullness. In Jesus’ name, Amen
