I’d Like To Use My Lifeline Please

The lifebuoy sos

Have you ever watched the game show “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” If you did you will know that three lifelines  are presented at the beginning of the game in order to aid the contestant when they can’t answer the question.  After they use the last lifeline they try to get help other ways such as asking the audience or Phone-a-Friend.  In doing so they always risk getting the wrong answer or misguided counsel.   With God we don’t need to be concerned about calling on Him for the right answers, we can be assured that He knows all things. Psalms 147:5 “Great is our Lord, and of great power: His understanding in infinite.”  Unlike the game show where you only get one lifeline our lifeline is our prayers to God and they are unlimited and to be used continually.   Jesus taught in Luke 18:1 “men ought always to pray and not faint.” That means literally what it says, we need to ALWAYS pray making it a lifestyle… and one worth living, I might add.  It is so imperative that we exercise this faith muscle before we run out of all other options. In truth God should be our “go-to” in every situation whether good or bad.  Let us be intentional and consistent about our communication practices with God, thus creating a habit-forming behavior that becomes so routine it occurs without one even thinking about it.

The Apostle Paul said in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”   When we experience God’s blessing or face temptation we are to rejoice and give thanks…the bible said to do it always and in all circumstances.  It also tells us to pray without ceasing.  Some may think “well this is absurd how can you pray without ceasing?”  Of course we are not going to be walking around with hands clasped and head bowed speaking aloud to the Lord as we go about our workday or anything like that, but as we become more and more God conscious we can talk and listen to Him in our hearts being confident that he hears us.   Remember, God “judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” ( Hebrews 4:12).  With that being said He definitely knows what’s on our hearts and minds even without us speaking an audible word.  Begin using your prayer lifeline in a way you never have before. Not only as a request line but a lifeline with continuous two-way communication.

Prayer:  Lord, help us develop an attitude of prayer as we acknowledge your presence in every situation.  In Jesus name.  Amen.

Be A Blessing!
