How Shall They Hear Without a Preacher?
October 19, 2015 By Pastor Mike
“How then shall they call upon Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?” (Romans 10:14)
“‘You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do men light a lamp, and put it under [a clay pot (CEV)], but on the lampstand; and it gives light to all who are in the house.’” (Matthew 5:14-15)
How do you convince somebody something’s true when they’ve either never heard about it, or if they have, they are blinded to it?
The same way you use a candle to bring light to a darkened room.
AGE OF DARKNESS
We live in a day and age where many are in the dark.
Some are in the dark of false religion.
Some are in the dark of thinking money will satisfy.
Some are in the dark of a painful hurt in the past.
While still others are in the dark of pride and selfishness and conceit, etc.
(This last group can be the nicest and most generous men and women you’d ever meet on the street!)
This is a sad state of affairs humankind finds itself in.
But even sadder than that, I think, is when these who are in the dark have people with candles around them who are content to keep the light to themselves.
SHARE THE GOSPEL
Yes, God’s speaking to you today about that person in your life.
(How could He know?” Trust me, He knows.)
You’ve been putting it off sharing the gospel with them for some time now.
But God’s saying, “Don’t put it off any longer.”
Strike the match!
Light the candle!
Venture into the room!
It just might be that the only thing in the way of that person coming to Jesus is you?!
