“Peace Beyond Mortal Understanding”

                           Written by bruce r. mills  @   www.Godsmanforever.com

John 14:26-27 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.  (NKJV)

The world is filled with anger, fear, bitterness, anxiety, and frustration…just to name a few of symptoms of us mortals, when the Holy Spirit is not living within us… To avoid these deadly symptoms, we must not only be Christians in God’s eyes, but we must be also be filled with (totally controlled by) the Holy Spirit, to avoid most (if not all) of these negative symptoms…  The apostle Paul pens this, in…

Ephesians 5:18-20…  And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,  (NKJV)

We can see the absolutely amazing change in Jesus’ disciples on the Day of Pentecost, when God sent down the Holy Spirit to indwell His disciples (and all believers), from that day on…  Jesus told His disciples not to venture out of Jerusalem on their own, until God sent them the Holy Spirit as their life long, live-in Helper, in…

Luke 24:49  Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem  until you are endued with power from on high.”   (NKJV)

Right after the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4), the apostle Peter went out and preached the Gospel of Christ… Peter was so empowered by the Holy Spirit, scripture tells us that Peter gave a Gospel message, and about 3,000 people were saved that day !!  (Acts 2:14-42…  https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=acts2%3A14-42&version=NKJV )

The peace Jesus is speaking of in the opening scripture (Peace I leave with you), is truly a God given peace those still not “born again” by God have yet to experience… It is a peace that surpasses our mortal understanding… (See link at the end for more on how to receive God’s saving grace, and this amazing God given peace)

Philippians 4:6-7Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.  (NKJV)

I speak above of one being a Christian in God’s eyes (not just their own mind), and the need to be “born again”…because there are many people calling themselves Christians (I was one of these “Christian in my mind only”, for almost 52 years)… But to become a Christian one must have their heart regenerated by God, as the new believer is filled with the Holy Spirit…

When you are filled with the Holy Spirit, there can be no doubt about the Holy Spirit  (Christ Himself…Colossians 1:27), living within you…  The apostle Paul pens this, in…

Romans 8:15-16…  For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,  (NKJV)

The supernatural power of the Holy Spirit can only be experienced at His absolute maximum by the true believer, when they finally submit  ALL of their lives to Him…  Only when the believer is walking in the Spirit (Galatians 5:16), will the Holy Spirit be free to direct our every thought, action, word, and deed…  Sadly, there are many Christians who have not spiritually matured to this point of total submission to God (James 4:7-8https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=james+4%3A7-8&version=NKJV ), because there is something keeping them from living a “Christ centered” life, under total control and obedience to the Holy Spirit…

These less than Spirit filled Christians may be placing their family, or their job, or their favorite sport, or any other god, ahead of God, in their lives…  This my friends, goes against God’s first 2 Commandments, found in…Exodus 20:2-17…  (Here is a link for more…  http://lifehopeandtruth.com/bible/10-commandments/the-ten-commandments/10-commandments-list/ )

Christians may love a particular sin more than they love the Lord, as we see warned against in 1 John 2:15-16…  Or they may believe that if the Lord is in control of their lives, they will miss all the fun things in life…  My friends, this is absolutely not true…  Living a Spirit filled life will give the believer who humbles themselves to listening to, and then obeying the leading of the Holy Spirit…a life that God will be free to direct in ways we would never be able to accomplish in our own mortal strength…  I am reminded of this scripture penned by the apostle Paul, in…

Ephesians 3:20   Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,  (NKJV)

I share this scripture all the time with young Christians’, who would benefit greatly by the guidance of the Holy Spirit in their lives…  When you are planning what you want to be…and you think you want to be a nurse…maybe God wants you to be a doctor !!  Don’t limit your potential in life by making decisions with-out God’s help…  the power that works in us in this scripture above, is the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit who will provide blessings in the believers life that have to be experienced to be believed !!

Blessings in Christ,  bruce
