“God Wants All of You”

Written by bruce r. mills for “God’s group”  @  www.Godsmanforever.com

(Revised from 1/17/2011)

Romans 8:31b  If God is for us, who can be against us?  (NKJV)

Once we become a child of God through faith and faith alone in Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior, there is nothing that can separate us from the love of God (Romans 8:37-39)… Yes we need to commit out lives to putting Christ first… Yes we should give God ALL of our heart, our mind, our soul and our strength… That is if we really want the full blessings that God promises us… I believe one can be saved, but not filled with the Holy Spirit…

I was talking to a friend who I believe is saved and a child of God… He said he wished he had the same passion and love for the Lord as I did… I know from personal experience, that one can be saved and going to heaven…but not filled to overflowing with the Holy Spirit… I have written about this before, but the following dramatic change in my life is important…

The moment God graced me with salvation, I knew right then that I was saved and heaven bound…because the Holy Spirit had confirmed with my spirit, that I was indeed a redeemed child of God (Romans 8:15-16)…  My life changed dramatically, in the blink of an eye, after repenting of my sins, and asking Christ to come into my heart…giving me new life in Him… I wasn’t saved until I was almost 52 years old…  Praise the Lord for His longsuffering and patience in my life !!   [See 1. below for a presentation of the gospel of Christ, if you have never trusted Christ to become your personal Lord and Savior]

I was saved for over 7 years, but had not totally committed my life to Christ (Not Spirit filled)…  It wasn’t until I sat down and prayed to God for the Holy Spirit to take back total control of my life (7 years and 2 days after my salvation)…that my life changed again… I urge every reader to spend the time reading REV. C.H. Surgeons’ preaching from 1859, on… “Grieving the Holy Spirit”…  [See 2. Below for this possible life changing sermon]   This sermon opened my eyes to the fact that I wasn’t living my life for the Lord… I was grieving the Holy Spirit, because God was not first in my life…  My God given peace and the joy of my salvation had all but left me, until I finally submitted my life to God, hook, line, and sinker…

Jesus’ first and greatest commandment, is that we love the Lord with ALL of our heart, our mind, and our soul…(Matthew 22:36-40)… In that first 7 years, I only shared the gospel of Christ twice… When I finally decided to yield to the Holy Spirit, I was amazed at how spiritual things became easier for me…  The Holy Spirit illuminated scripture so that I could better understand my daily reading of the Bible…

Sharing the gospel of Christ became, all of a sudden, one of the most important things I could do for the Lord…   Anyone who has been following my writing knows that sharing the gospel is so very important to me… It’s all about being led by the Holy Spirit…

Today’s writing is a prime example… You see the last sentence in my opening paragraph?… “I believe one can be saved, but not filled with the Holy Spirit”… My original topic about “nothing separating us from the love of God”, went right down the tubes after I wrote this, and stopped to think for a moment… This is because I yielded to what the Holy Spirit was trying to tell me I should be writing on today…

Being Spirit filled (Ephesians 5:18-20), is so much more powerful, than just being saved…  All of God’s children should yield to what the Holy Spirit is trying to tell them…as they look to Him for guidance in every facet of their lives… It is only by this humbling oneself after salvation…and giving God ALL of your life…that the full power and majesty of the Holy Spirit will blossom into a life filled with the Lord’s richest blessings…

Heavenly Father, I pray that all Christians that are not filled to overflowing with the Holy Spirit, would be able to see through my actual life experience…that just being saved is not where You want us to stop… Help us Lord as Christians, to fully commit our lives to You; and then totally yield to the urging of Holy Spirit, to be blessed with the full power and potential being filled with the Holy Spirit will unlock… I thank You and praise You Lord for all that You do… And I pray that others would seek to submit ALL of their lives to You as well…  I will thank You now Lord, for the lives that You will touch in a mighty way, in Jesus’ most precious name, and for His sake…Amen…

Blessings in Christ, bruce
