Are you “Satisfied”…REALLY “Satisfied” ??
We as human beings all have our wants and our needs, that some call the desires of our heart… I saw an interview with Tom Brady from the New England Patriots from 10 years ago, after he won his 3rd Superbowl… With all his fame and his money…he stated…”There has to be more to life than this…I wish I knew the answer” !! (see 1. below for the short video)
Tom Brady has won his 4th and his 5th Superbowl since then…and is now married to Gisele Bundchen, who I believe is the richest model in the world… Tom Brady is going for his 6th Superbowl ring this Sunday (2/04), against the Philadelphia Eagles…my hometown favorite !! I will tell you what would finally satisfy Tom Brady…and it isn’t winning his 6th Superbowl ring…
John 4:13-14… Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” (ESV)
We read in this scripture above, Jesus speaking to a Samaritan woman at the well… Jesus was hot and tired, and had asked her for a drink of water… Jesus then proceeds to tell her about the “living water” He could provide her, that would satisfy her thirst forever !!
We hear Jesus speak of “living water” a second time in…
John 7:37-39… On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” 39 Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. (ESV)
My friends, there is a thirst in every human heart that no amount of water can quench… There is a hunger in every human heart that no amount of food will satisy… When we think that next job promotion, or moving into that bigger house, or finally buying that dream car will give us peace and our hearts desire…our heart is fooling us, along with one of Satan’s biggest lies… God tells us this, in His inerant Word, the Bible…
Jeremiah 17:9-10… The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? 10 “I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.” (ESV)
When we become a “born again” Christian, God graces us with salvation, and the Holy Spirit to guide and direct our lives…John 14:25-27… It is the love of Christ filling our heart, that will fill the lifelong void that we can never satisfy in our own strength or efforts… How can we become a redeemed child of God ?? God uses His Word, and His children to share the “good news” Gospel message of the cross… By understanding and obeying the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ…we can become a new creation in Christ…
2 Corinthian 5:17… Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. (ESV)
My friends, this new creation is a rebirth of ones life… The old man is put aside, and a new life in Christ begins… (Take a look at these 22 scripture verses in 2. below, about putting off the old man…) A new life in Christ will bring all the blessings that will come, as the nine fruit of the Spirit grow and mature in the life of the believer… Take a look at what the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit will produce in the believers life…
Galatians 5:22-23… But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. (ESV)
Can you imagine being able to love someone screaming in your face, like Jesus tells us we are to do, in…Matthew 5:43-44…?? And how about being able to find joy through life’s most difficult trial, as we see penned by the Apostle James in…James 1:2-4… This is not emotional joy like a parent feels after having a baby… This is spiritual joy that Jesus Christ tells His apostles (and us) about, in…
John 15:11… These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. (ESV)
And how about being able to find absolute peace, even when thinking about your own death ?? This peace is a supernatural spiritual peace, produced by the indwelling Holy Spirit within the believer, as penned by the Apostle Paul, in…
Philippians 4:6-7… do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (ESV)
My friends…if the Holy Spirit is urging you to become a “born again” Christian…open this link below (see 3.), and seek Jesus Christ while He may still be found…Isaiah 55:6-7…
Gracious God and heavenly Father, I pray that you will draw those who are not yet a redeemed child of God to Yourself…John 6:44… I pray Father, that each and every set of eyes reading these words, will come to a place in their life where the full power of the Holy Spirit has total control of their lives… I pray for this fullness of Christ, and all the blessings it will bring into ones life…in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
