Technology…Smechnology

The other day, I was riding around on my lawn mower.  Well, let’s just say that I was riding the high side of the swamp land  left by the weekly torrential rains that have plagued North Louisiana from last summer to this spring.  Anyway’s, as I was riding around, I began to contemplate such things as the origin of the universe, how they get the cream filled sugary goodness inside of Twinkies, and  the fact that it is illegal to hunt camels in Arizona – or so they say.

Suddenly, I had an epiphany.  Technology has increased at such an incredible rate that the average person can be seen instantaneously around the world in mere seconds.  Daniel chapter 12 speaks to this very thing.  It says, in verse 4, that many will run to and fro and  knowledge will be increased.  As a side bar, notice it says knowledge but not wisdom.  You can have the knowledge of Einstein but the wisdom of a gnat.

To continue… We are seeing Daniel 12 explode around the world.  No longer are the air waves reserved for the elite and those with endless pockets full of money.  No longer is the small town country preacher confined to the walls of their local church building.  No longer is the unknown writer confined to the whim of a large corporation whose uppity-uppers decide which work should be shown and which work is not worthy.

No.  Advancements in technology – or it usefulness to solve problems or do new things – is here to stay.  The question is, how do you choose to use it?  As with anything, technology can be used for good or it can be used for evil.  As a Christian, begin to consider how you might use technology for good and how you might use it to reach a lost and dying world.  But never forget; human interaction should never be compromised for the sake of technological interaction.  Be blessed.
