“Do You Forgive Others ??”

For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; v.15: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Matthew 6: 14-15

Unforgiveness can be dangerous and deadly. It is unwise and unhealthy. It is a major cause of sickness in the world today. It causes people much grief, and results in tragedy.

This morning I thought about what the world would be like if there were no forgiveness. And more specifically, I considered what my future would be if God had decided not to forgive me. Jesus called on people to forgive. And as He did that, He set the perfect example of what forgiveness is, and what it looks like.

And as He delivered the wonderful words of God from the Sermon on the Mount, He called on us to be a forgiving people. He did that because He knows what is good for us. And believe me, He knows what is bad for us. Forgiveness is good. Unforgiveness is very bad. It is an attitude of rebellion against God that demonstrates our motives and shows what hard, calloused hearts of unbelief look like.

Do you ask God for forgiveness? Do you forgive others as you ask God to forgive you? Because if you don’t, Jesus told us about the hard consequences of those who choose to not believe His word. I believe Him!

  1. Amber says:

Yes, forgiveness is powerful! With that said, I’ve had to learn that just because I’ve forgiven someone doesn’t mean that I can’t set boundaries for my own health and well-being. I love Drs. Townsend & Cloud’s book, “Boundaries”. After reading it, it truly changed my life. I was often trying to be a “savior” without realizing it by trying to “be there” for others who were abusing the relationship. This book helped me to understand that I can forgive past hurts, but boundaries are necessary; even God creates boundaries. Thanks for sharing this post.
