Eternal Security for Those Who Believe

John 10:25-30

“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never
perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one,” John 10:28-30

Many of us waste much of our Christian walks worrying about things we ought not to and asking questions we ought not to. Do I have to work to be saved? If I do not work, will God take my salvation away? Can Satan snatch me away? Can one who is saved, through outside action or personal choice, become unsaved? If I sin enough will God revoke my salvation?

The answer to all of the above is simple: absolutely not. “I and my Father are one” (verse 30). That is one of the most powerful statements in all of Scripture. The key to our salvation is full, one hundred percent reliance on the work Jesus performed for us at Calvary and by His resurrection. That simple statement should clear up any questions we might have as to how capable Jesus was to perform the feat of our salvation. Jesus was not just some prophet who died so that we could later help Him along in saving us and keeping us saved. He did all of it. He did it totally, permanently and irrevocably!

We work, yet we rest. We strive, yet we are not to struggle. We put forth the effort, yet we are not to tire. We are to work and obey, yet we accomplish nothing. Rely on His strength and His will and live the life He desires that we live. It is quite simple and easy, and if we are struggling then we are relying on the wrong person!

JUST A THOUGHT: We cannot work our way to salvation, and we cannot keep ourselves saved. Our works are because of gratitude and love for His work.
