“Immanuel – God with us”

 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”   Matthew 1:23

Every single Old Testament prophecy which was given to us regarding the Messiah points directly to our Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew quoted Isaiah 7:14, and declared that Mary was this virgin who would be with child and bring the Son of God into this world. Hundreds of years before Christ would be born in Bethlehem, it was foretold by God.

God finds no greater joy than being with those He created and loves. God desired to be “with us”. He sent forth His only begotten Son to be born of virgin to be with us, and to save us from our sins.

God still dwells with us today. He is with us in the Person of the Holy Spirit. His Holy Spirit confirms within us the true meaning of Christmas. When we celebrate Christmas, our focus should be on the birth of Christ, and God’s SUPREME GIFT to us thru His Son Jesus.

This morning I thanked God for IMMANUEL. And I thank God for the meaning of His Name. For you see, God is STILL WITH US. And He will be WITH US today and throughout all eternity!

When we say, “MERRY CHRISTMAS”, we should remember and focus upon the birth of our Savior. Merry Christmas everyone!
