“Who is Jesus?”
And He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
Matthew 16:15
Simon Peter would be quick to answer this question from the Lord Jesus Christ. In v.16, he would proclaim, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God”. It is a question that all men must answer. How you answer it will not only change your life for better or for worse, but will determine your eternal destination.
God draws men to Himself with this question. The disciples had been with Jesus for a long enough period of time to make the determination that He indeed is God in the flesh. They begin to accept His lordship while observing His humanity and His deity.
This morning, I am thanking God for providing us with Christ, the Son of the living God. I am thanking Him for recording for us the essential events of His life here on earth, so that you and I can rightly answer the question, “Who is Jesus?” And I’m especially thanking Him for loving me so much, that He paid the price for my sins upon the cross at Calvary, and then after being proclaimed dead and buried in a tomb, rose up from the dead, to secure eternal and everlasting life for those of us who believe in Him as the Christ, the Son of the living God, and have the good sense to come to Him in repentance and faith.
