The Church during the days of Corona Virus: Pray for the Health and Salvation of the Presidential Candidate

Our “This Sunday” series will be another a Corona Virus edition.  Last week for this series I posted “The Church during the days of Corona Virus: Pray for the President’s Health and Salvation.”  It has generated a lot of discussion.  This springs from last week’s post I thought it would be right for this week to do the following to balance last week’s post: Pray for the Health and Salvation of the Presidential Candidate.

Matthew 16:26 stood out to me from my reading this past week.  It states:

For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

Among many things in 2020 we have a very heated presidential election in the United States.  Whoever is president is in a very important office that impact the United States but also internationally.  One can argue that the US is a very powerful country around the world.

Yet even to “gain the whole world” by becoming the President of the United States, if that person who will be president isn’t saved then the passage is sobering: That individual will lose his soul.

Now why are we lost in the first place?  We are all sinners (Romans 3:23).  Sin means our penalty is death and separation from God.  After one dies we all deserve to go to hell.

Yet here’s the good news: Those who trust in Jesus as the Savior will be saved!

Last we already talked about praying for Donald Trump.  As application this Sunday, pray for Joe Biden for his salvation.  Pray for his salvation regardless how you feel or think about him in the political arena.  It might also be good to pray for his health given his age.
