How Firm a Foundation: June 2021 Scripture Writing Plan

“How firm a foundation, you saints of the Lord
Is laid for your faith in His excellent word!
What more can He say than to you He has said
to you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?”

About a month ago we moved into a new house outside of town. After we moved in, we had a foundation poured for my husband to have a workshop for welding, car maintenance/repairs, woodworking, etc. I enjoyed watching them pour the concrete slab. My kids enjoyed rollerblading on the completed slab. As we stood on that wide concrete foundation, none of us feared that it would suddenly give way beneath our feet. Even when there was a tornado warning, I wasn’t worried about that slab pulling up from the ground. It was (and is) firmly fixed. This particular foundation can be destroyed by bombs, explosions, or even the slow decay of time, but it won’t easily crumble.

In a similar way, our Heavenly Father is Himself a strong foundation. He is unshakeable, unchangeable, immovable. He has laid for our faith a firm foundation through Jesus Christ and His resurrection.

Ask yourself:

On what (or on whom) is my faith built?

Does it depend on fallible people or an infallible savior?

Do I trust that He is be able to answer all my doubts?

When times are easy do I stay close to Him? When times are hard is He my refuge?

As you continue to progress in your faith, make sure you continue to build on God’s foundation and not the unstable foundations of mankind.
