Pray for Souls in Crisis
JULY 28, 2021PASTOR RANDY
Here is something to make you cry–and hopefully inspire you to intercede for all the unborn children who are thrown out like yesterday’s garbage. Reposting this by:
Walking Beside the Boat
What would you expect the news response in our nation to be if we suffered an attack, accident, or incident that resulted in 2,362 deaths in a single day? Beside this staggering figure, even the number of US military losses in the attack on Pearl Harbor – some 2,335 souls – is eclipsed. Only the final count of the Twin Towers collapse, generating a bone-chilling 2,726 death certificates, surpasses that number. How would we expect our national news to respond?
Silence. The response is silence. We know this, because each day in the United States of America an average of at least 2,335* living, growing unborn children are torn from their mothers’ bodies. Their mangled bodies are reassembled and then discarded as medical waste. A very few will survive the ordeal. They will be shut away, out of sight and unaided, to die alone in their suffering. They are not even offered the grace of anesthesia.
Each morning, when I wake, I breathe a prayer over the day that will unfold before me. I pray for my husband, my children and their families, my siblings and their families, and my friends and compatriots in the various communities in which I have served. I also pray for the mission of the Church and for our nation and the nations of the world, especially for the leadership of those nations.
Several years ago, I added to that morning prayer intercession for the persons who were enduring persecution for their faith, with a special word of supplication for those who would lay down their lives for the sake of their faith before the day had ended. This morning, I am adding to my everyday prayer list a group that I should have added long ago.
Will you pray this prayer with me?
Lord, we lift to You the tender souls of the unborn who will end their mortal journey this day because they are not valued by their families. There is no one there to protect them. There is no one there to offer them comfort or compassion in their final struggle. We pray that You will hear their silent cries and ease their suffering. Receive them into Your hands, though they come to You unclaimed and unbaptized, without even the dignity of a name. Look with compassion on the families that are abandoning them. As You said from the cross of Your suffering, say over them “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” We live in an age without natural affection. Our masses have been desensitized and are programed to see the unborn as disposable. We beg You to bring conviction upon us as a nation and lead us to repentance for this ongoing shame. But until then, be with the ones who are perishing. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Then Elisha came to Damascus. Now Ben-hadad, king of Aram, was sick, and it was told him, saying, “The man of God has come here.” The king said to Hazael, “Take a gift in your hand and go to meet the man of God, and inquire of the Lord by him, saying, ‘Will I recover from this sickness?’” So Hazael went to meet him and took a gift in his hand, even every kind of good thing of Damascus, forty camels’ loads; and he came and stood before him and said, “Your son Ben-hadad king of Aram has sent me to you, saying, ‘Will I recover from this sickness?’”
Then Elisha said to him, “Go, say to him, ‘You will surely recover,’ but the Lord has shown me that he will certainly die.” He fixed his gaze steadily on him until he was ashamed, and the man of God wept. Hazael said, “Why does my lord weep?” Then he answered, “Because I know the evil that you will do to the sons of Israel: their strongholds you will set on fire, and their young men you will kill with the sword, and their little ones you will dash in pieces, and their women with child you will rip up.” Then Hazael said, “But what is your servant, who is but a dog, that he should do this great thing?” And Elisha answered, “The Lord has shown me that you will be king over Aram.”
So he departed from Elisha and returned to his master, who said to him, “What did Elisha say to you?” And he answered, “He told me that you would surely recover.” On the following day, he took the cover and dipped it in water and spread it on his face, so that he died. And Hazael became king in his place.
