“Can you trust your own heart ??”

He that trusts in his own heart is a fool; but he who walks wisely, he shall be delivered.

Proverbs 28:26

Sometimes well meaning people tell us to trust our heart. That isn’t what God’s word says! In Jeremiah 17: 9, God tells us the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked. There has been many times that my heart has led me to make unwise choices and decisions.

So if I can’t really trust my heart, what or who should I trust? Jeremiah gave us that answer too! In Jeremiah 17:7, he tells us, “Blessed is the man that trusts in Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.”

You see, my heart has often let me down. It has failed me. But my God and His Word never has, or never will. That is why this morning I say to all who will hear, Cast all your care upon Him, for He truly cares for us. He will never leave us nor forsake us. He will never fail me or you. And even during the times we allow either an over calloused or over tender heart lead us astray, when we trust in God and His Word to lead us to right decisions, He always will.
