“Do not grieve the Holy Spirit !!”
Ephesians 4:30… And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. (NKJV)
If you have been blessed by God, by being drawn into into His kingdom (John 6:44) and redeemed as a “born again” Christian…God has indwelt you with the Holy Spirit to guide and direct your life… But God wants to be absolutely first in your life… Once you have been saved by God’s grace alone, through saving faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ…this opening scripture reveals that your salvation is sealed !! You cannot lose your salvation, which so many people believe is possible… OSAS… “Once Saved, Always Saved”… But if you do not have the Holy Spirit living within you, you are NOT a redeemed child of God… Watch this powerful 3 minute video with John Piper revealing several scripture verses saying, “No Holy Spirit, No Salvation”, in Reference 2. But once saved, if God is not first in your life, the Holy Spirit is grieved, because you are living in sin… What sin you ask, since all the new believers sins have been forgiven by the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross ?? It’s called the sin of omission, as penned by the Apostle James, in…

The past, present, and future sins of the “born again” believer will not effect their eternal destiny of heaven…because there is never any condemnation for those who are “born again”, also called being “in Christ”…
Romans 8:1… There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. (NKJV)
Once truly saved by God’s grace alone…you are guaranteed to be heaven bound when you die… (2 Corinthians 5:8 ) BUT…you will not be blessed as God wants to bless you, if you live your life harboring unconfessed sin/sins in your heart… You will be no better off than the unbeliever, until you humble yourself…confess, repent, and turn from your sins…asking God to take back control of your life… I know this for a fact, because I spent the better part of just over 7 years (though I was graced with salvation), not being filled with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18-20)…because Jesus Christ wasn’t first and most important in my life… BUT back on June 4th, 2009, I was led by God to read a sermon by REV. C. H. Spurgeon from 1859, titled “Grieve not the Holy Spirit”… This 6,000 word sermon by Spurgeon changed my life dramatically on that date !! I urge EVERY “born again” Christian, if the Lord is NOT first in their life (like He wasn’t for me), to read this sermon by Spurgeon, that can be found in Reference 1. Below… It just might change your life as dramatically as it did for me !!
We have been given free will by God, AFTER we have been saved by God’s grace alone… We will either choose to live our lives in obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit that God has indwelt us with…or we decide that we know more than God… Kind of sounds foolish doesn’t it, when I pose our free will telling us that we know more than the Creator of heaven and earth… But Satan is a very powerful fallen angel, who can easily trick us into believing the lies that Satan will use to keep the believer from being filled with the Holy Spirit… After all, the Bible teaches us that Satan is the Father of all lies…
John 6:44… You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. (NKJV)
So don’t be a fool by falling for Satan’s bag of tricks which will not only keep you from sharing your faith with those around you who need God’s saving grace…but you will also not receive God’s richest blessings He reserves for those who diligently seek Him…
Hebrews 11:6… But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (NKJV)
Do your best keep to Christ front and center in your life, by being obedient to the urging of the Holy Spirit… God has given you this life-long, live in Helper that will empower you with supernatural power, when the Holy Spirit is given total control of your life…(Ephesians 5:18-20) Any unconfessed sin/sins, especially the sin of God not being first and most important in your life, will break the fellowship you have with the Lord… There will be no spiritual fruit God wants to bless you with, when you have unconfessed sin residing in your heart… The Apostle Paul lists 9 of the fruit of the Spirit in the following scripture…
Galatians 5:22-23… But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. (ESV)
Look at this list of godly Christ like attributes that could help you in every facet of your life… You could know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that will flood your heart with Christ’s agape love (Ephesians 3:19)… You would be able to experience spiritual joy, when you fall into the inevitable trials of your life (James 1:2)… You would be able to experience the peace of God that will surpass your mortal understanding (Philippians 4:6-7), when those not Spirit-filled people (unbelievers) still living in the world would have no peace…
Gracious God and heavenly Father, I pray Your living and powerful Word would take the scales off the eyes of those that You don’t yet know as Your redeemed, “born again” children…(Hebrews 4:12) I pray, the Holy Spirit would urge these sinful people to open and read the “good news” gospel of Christ message [See P.S. below] that You use to save unbelievers, after You first draw them to Yourself…(John 6:44) I pray for hearts made of stone to be softened by You into hearts filled with the love of Christ…(Ezekiel 36:26) And as always I pray that all lives reading this would be filled with the Holy Spirit, in Jesus’ most precious name, and for His sake…Amen…
