“The sin-sick heart”

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

Jeremiah 17:9-10

Do you know that all of us have “heart problems”? God knows it. Only God can fix our sick hearts in the spiritual sense. We often ask people to give their heart to God. I don’t believe God wants our old dirty, sin-sick hearts. God wants to give us a brand-new heart. He is interested in “new creations”, in making the old things pass away, and making all things new. He wants us to be born again, and He tells us we must be, to enter into a relationship with Him forever in eternity.

We would do better if we taught folks that God desires to remake their old heart. Only God can remake and create a brand-new heart in man. Modern medicine can fix hearts in the physical sense, but it takes the Great Physician to fix our heart in the spiritual sense.

Have you had your heart problems taken care of? God is able to create in YOU a new heart. And today, He stands ready and able to create within mankind the kind of heart He can use as we face His enemies today. For the enemies of God are also our enemies. We need new and healthy hearts to endure them!
