More than TED Talk, the Church Needs TEXT Talk

Who here found some TED talk helpful?
More than TED style talk I think the Church needs to recover “TEXT” Talk. Especially in the Pulpit.
What I mean by TEXT is that it is textually based upon the text of Scripture.
But I also mean it as an acronym:
Truthful, Evangelical (E)Xegetical and Transformative talk.
Let me explain.

In this day and age of fake news and social media spreading all kinds of lies that we want to believe, those who serve God must be truthful. Truth also goes against what people want to hear sometimes such as the reality we are sinful.

Yet truth doesn’t mean there’s no hope. Rather there is hope and that hope is from the Good News. Evangel means Good News. What is the Good News? Christ came and died for the sins of those who trust in Him and those who trust in Jesus will be saved from the wrath of God!

That is, it is based upon the Bible where interpretation of any given passage is properly interpreted according to good principles of interpretation that reflect the authorial intent. We want to rightly divide God’s Word and find help from it!

Hearing the truth about God isn’t just academic but it should change us. But how it changes us matters; it should of course be truthful and based upon the Gospel: The Gospel is also a powerful motivation for Christian obedience and hope to change!
As a preacher, I want to give a TEXT talk. May we pray for our churches to be doing this.
