No good thing will God withhold From those who walk uprightly”

Psalm 84:11…  For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those who walk uprightly.  (NKJV)

When God speaks of walking uprightly, He is speaking of His redeemed, “born again” children who are living their lives to please God…  The way a believer speaks, the way they act when evil people speak to them with hateful words, and the way they are able to love everyone around them, no matter what life throws their way…is something all believers should strive for…  But what is the secret that gives the redeemed child of God the ability to love even their enemies ??  It is the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit if the believer allows Him to take total control of their lives…  The indwelt Holy Spirit will successfully guide and direct the “born again” believer who is living a Spirit-filled, Christ-centered life, to produce spiritual fruit which the Apostle Paul tells us about in…

Galatians 5:22-23…  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.  (NKJV)

This spiritual love is the love of Christ filling the believer’s heart which gives them the ability to love the unloveable…  They will be able to find this spiritual joy and peace no matter what’s going on in the world around them…  But their Christian walk with the Lord is not something Satan is very happy with…  He has lost the battle to keep them bound with his chains of sin and shame…  But Satan doesn’t want believers to be salt and light to non-believers who have yet to seek the Lord Jesus Christ to become their personal Lord and Savior…

We see throughout the Bible that God is light…  See Ref. 1 below for a link to 21 Bible verses about God being light…

And when we have Jesus living within us, His light should shine through us so that those around us will see that we are living for Jesus…

John 8:12…  Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”  (NKJV)

Matthew 5:16…  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.  (NKJV)

God will bless the unbeliever as well as His redeemed children…  We see this very clearly in the following scripture, in…

Matthew 5:45…  so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.  (NKJV)

Thank goodness God provides a blessing to every human being…  But God saves His richest blessings for His redeemed children who are doing their best to live in obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit…

Hebrews 11:6…  But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.  (NKJV)

I don’t believe these rewards God gives to His obedient children who diligently seek Him are monetary…  I believe they are found in the Spiritual fruit listed by the Apostle Paul in…Galatians 5:22-23…  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.  (NKJV)

Being able to live a life that both you and God can be proud of is an amazing thing…  But this walk with the Lord is a moment-by-moment endeavor…  As a redeemed, “born again” child of God…you have to remain committed to keeping Christ first in your life…  Satan will be constantly bombarding you with fiery darts the Apostle Paul speaks about when he tells us about God’s spiritual armor that is found right there in God’s Word…  But if we are not in the Word on a daily basis…how are we ever to learn about God’s protective armor to keep Satan in check ??

You will find a link in Ref. 2. Below, for Paul’s writing on God’s spiritual armor…  Here are the important pieces of scripture you should know about…

  • Ephesians 6:11-12…  Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.   (NKJV)

  • Ephesians 6:16…   above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. (NKJV)

  • Ephesians 6:17b…  and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;  (NKJV)

The shield of faith is only one of the 6 pieces of God’s spiritual armor, but as you see…Paul believes it is perhaps the most important piece of God’s spiritual armor when he says above all…    I have also listed the sword of the Spiritbecause it is the only piece of God’s 6 piece set of spiritual armor which is used for offense AGAINST Satan’s attacks…

God’s redeemed, “born again” children need to spend time reading, digesting, and applying God’s Word to how they live their lives…  God’s Word (the Bible) is spiritual food for the soul, and is every bit as important for the growth of our spiritual wisdom and knowledge as the food and water we need to survive…  Jesus thought it was so important to spend time in the Bible, that He told His disciples (and us) this two times, in…Matthew 4:4&…Luke 4:4

Matthew 4:4…  But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”  (NKJV)

Since God doesn’t speak to us audibly like Jesus did to those around Him some 2000 years ago…we have to allow the Holy Scriptures to speak to us when we spend time reading the Bible…  It is God’s Word that is living and powerful (Hebrews 4:12), and the Word is able to change the lives of those who spend time reading the Bible to grow in their knowledge and wisdom of God…  The Apostle Paul penned perhaps the most important piece of scripture about the Bible in this scripture…

2 Timothy 3:16-17…  All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.  (NKJV)

We see very clearly in this scripture, that God’s inerrant, infallible, and inspired Word will make the believer complete, and equipped to do all that God has planned for each of His redeemed, “born again” children…  The Bible teaches us everything God is unhappy about to help us live our lives for Him…[Reproof]  The Bible gives us what we need to correct our mistakes…[Correction]  And the Bible gives us “instruction in righteousness”, which is what we need to do to be forgiven our lifetime of sins, and guaranteed a room in God’s mansion in heaven when we pass on from this life…

You can see many pieces of scripture in today’s writing…  But they all come from God’s Word…given to us by God for people that want to change their lives in ways that have to be experienced to be believed…

Not yet a “born again” Christian ?? Not 100% sure you will be going to heaven when you die ?? You absolutely CAN be sure you are heaven bound when you are “born again” by God above… Open the P.S. below, and seek Jesus to become your personal Lord and Savior…

Gracious God and heavenly Father, I pray that You will open the eyes of those who don’t yet know Your Son Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, to see the truth found in Your Word, the Bible…  I pray that You won’t give unbelievers a minute’s rest until You draw them in (John 6:44), and they believe in faith that Jesus is Lord, loving Him with ALL of their heart, mind, soul, and strength…  They have prayed to God for salvation and have been “born again” as a new creation in Christ…2 Corinthians 5:17…  I thank You and praise You for all that You have provided me, and I pray that old and new believers alike will continue to put You first in their lives…  I pray for life changes today that only You can make, in Jesus’ precious name and for His sake…Amen…

Blessings in Christ,  bruce
