“Repentance is key”
But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in Heaven.
Matthew 10:33
Peter wept bitterly after he had denied the Lord Jesus Christ. Peter had been sincere when he told the Lord that he would never deny Him because Peter was like us in that he didn’t have the ability to see himself as he really was. When a man believes he is so spiritual that he cannot possibly fail Christ, then that man is in a dangerous state and is setting himself up for a tremendous and tragic fall. The good news? Peter REPENTED of his personal denial of Christ, and because Peter repented of his sins, God was able to use him in great and mighty ways.
Some folks stop serving Christ after a personal failure. That isn’t what we should do. We should come to Christ in repentance and faith, confessing our personal sins and asking God to forgive us and cleanse us from all our unrighteousness. And when we do that, we are justified once again before God and are in a position to be used for His glory. Failure need not be a permanent condition in the life of any believer.
