The Revelation Of Jesus Christ: “they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.”
Rev 17:14 – “These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.”
Christ’s people who join with Him at the Battle of Armageddon (Rev 19:11-16) are described as the “called, chosen and faithful”. In these three titles we find a wonderful description of those who have been saved by His grace through the work of our Lord Jesus.
They are:
“the called” –
We are called to salvation through the gospel message and the Spirit’s intervention. (Romans 10:13-15, John 6:44)
We are called to follow Christ as the servants of Almighty God. (1 Peter 2:21)
“the chosen” –
We are chosen to salvation before the foundation of the world (James 2:5)
We were chosen to be holy and live lives of service to Him (1 Peter 2:9, Eph 2:10)
“the faithful” –
The result of our call to salvation and service, the saints of God live lives faithful to Him. Faithful service is proof of a genuine salvation experience. If no change of lifestyle takes place following a “salvation experience” there is no reason to believe it was a genuine work of God in the heart. (James 2:17-18, 2 Corinth 5:17)
This is why all Christians are called upon to make sure the Lord has worked in their hearts and changed their life! (Please note they are not told to be certain they have made “a decision” for Christ…. they are told to be certain God has chosen them and called them to salvation and service!) (2 Peter 1:10)
Folks, the Lord has graciously chosen to save us before the foundation of the world and called us to faithful service in His name, by His grace!
Eph 1:3-6 – “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.”
May we all love and appreciate our Lord for graciously choosing to save us when we did not deserve, nor could we earn, salvation from our sins. In doing so, may we also come to understand that we are saved to serve our wonderful Lord out of a heart of appreciation and love knowing we owe Him our very lives…
Rom 12:1-2 – “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
