John 9:1-2… Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. 2 And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” (NKJV)
In Jesus’ time, it was commonly thought that anyone who was born with some kind of abnormality, was born this way because of some sin that their parents had committed… Jesus, in response to His disciples’ question, responded with this, in…John 9:3… Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him. (NKJV)
Jesus went on, and spit on the ground and made some mud that He used to anoint the blind man’s eyes; and then Jesus told him to go wash in the pool of Siloam, which was fed by a spring near Jerusalem… The blind man was led to this pool, and indeed he came back seeing for the first time in his life !! This miracle done by Jesus, was performed by Jesus to bring glory to His Father in heaven; and the entire chapter 9 in the Book of John, is devoted to this one miracle… http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=jn9&version=NKJV
I am sure many of you have questioned why God does what He does… My beautiful niece Jennifer was taken home to be with the Lord, at the age of only 39… She never married; though I understand she was proposed to several times… Jennifer truly was a bride of Christ, in every way…
Little 4 years old Riley O’Brien, who has earned a spot in my heart, needs a heart/lung transplant… I am sure his parents often wonder why God chose to bring this little fella into the world; only to be put him and his parents through so much in the way of operations, tests, and over a dozen Cardiac Catheterizations… You just have to love this trooper… Here is the link for anyone who wants to read about little Riley… on his Facebook- “Smile4Riley~Riley O’Brien Support Page”… https://www.facebook.com/Smile4Riley
God uses people and situations for His purposes all the time… Once a person understands that God is not only a loving God…God is also sovereign; meaning that everything that happens to us in our lifetime happens because God chooses for it to happen just the way it does… Here is just one of the scripture verses in the Bible, which reveals that God will do as He pleases…Psalm 135:5-6… For I know that the Lord is great, And our Lord is above all gods. 6 Whatever the Lord pleases He does, In heaven and in earth, In the seas and in all deep places. (NKJV)
I know this can be hard to comprehend; but God always does things that will somehow work together for good…even though we may never know until we are in glory with Him, as to why God did what He did in our lives…Romans 8:28… And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (NKJV)
This poor blind man in the opening scripture, suffered with blindness from birth because God wanted him to be part of Jesus’ miracle… All we can do is look to the Lord for the peace and the joy He will give to all those who humble themselves; and become part of God’s family as His child… It then becomes much easier to accept all of life’s trials, once we know that God is in charge; and that God never makes any mistakes…
Heavenly Father, we are often left to wonder why You do as You do… Help us Lord, to understand that things always happen the way You want them too… And that we should never, ever second guess decisions that You will make for us, in this short time we call our lifetime… Help us Lord, to look beyond this short life that is but a vapor (James 4:13-14); and to seek Jesus Christ to become our personal Lord, our Master, and our Savior… It is, after all… where we will spend an eternity after our death, which is really the most important thing we should contemplate before we pass on from this life… Help us Lord, in our quest to live in Your will and Your ways…in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
