John 14:2-3… In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. (NKJV)
Today, we in the USA celebrate “Father’s Day” to honor our earthly fathers… My father passed on many years ago… All those who have fathers that are still living, should really consider themselves lucky; no matter what your current relationship is with your father… God commands us to honor our father and our mother with the 5th of 10 Commandments, in…Exodus 12… This command is repeated by Jesus in…Matthew 19:19…and again by the apostle Paul in…Ephesians 6:2-3… “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: 3 “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” (NKJV)
No matter what has transpired in any negative way to separate you from a good relationship with your father…today would be a good day to call him if he is far away, or sit down with him and tell him that you love him, if this is possible… I have heard of broken relationships between a father and his children that have gone on for years; and for what reason ?? Why not bury the hatchet, so to speak; and mend any broken relationship you have… The Lord tells us we are to love even our enemies, in…Matthew 5:43-44…
For all of us, including all those out there who no longer have a father, or who never knew their father…I am here to tell you that there is still a heavenly Father that can provide comfort and security better than any earthly father ever could…
In the opening scripture, Jesus is telling His disciples about His Father in heaven… These words Jesus used to comfort His disciples, are to me…still some of the most comforting words found anywhere in the Bible… Jesus had just told His disciples that He had to go away, and would no longer be with them… Jesus then told His disciples this, in…John 14:1… “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.” (NKJV)
Absolutely knowing 100% for sure that you are a child of God…and that God has prepared a mansion for you in heaven when you die (as Jesus tells us in the opening scripture)…should give you a peace and a joy I so often write about, that goes beyond mortal understanding (Philippians 4:7)… The apostle John tells us this, in…1 John 5:13… These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God. (NKJV)
This belief in Jesus Christ (the Son of God), leading to a sinner becoming a Christian…can only become a reality after a personal relationship has developed between the sinner and the Lord… We must understand that we are all sinners from birth…and that we can in no way, by anything we do for the Lord, be forgiven of our sins… We must humbly seek Jesus Christ to become our personal Lord, our Master, and our Savior… This is done by understanding that Jesus died on the cross for our sins…that Jesus was buried and rose again…and then by turning from our sins…repenting or them…and asking Christ to take control of our lives…we can be forgiven by God of our sins… This is what the Bible calls obeying the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ… The apostle Paul warns us what will happen to us, if we fail to do this, in…2 Thessalonians 1:8-9…
Becoming a Christian occurs after gospel of Christ is obeyed…and is solely a gift of God, by grace through faith alone in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9)… The new Christian becomes a new creature in Christ, as old things pass away (2 Corinthians 5:17), and their new life with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit…will give them this comfort Jesus was trying to tell His disciples about in…John 14:26… But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (KJV)
Heavenly Father, I am so thankful for You, not only on this special day…but everyday… Help all of us Lord, to give honor today to our earthly fathers, if they are still alive… And Lord, I pray that You regenerate the hearts of all of those You don’t know as Your children…so that they can experience first hand, the peace and the comfort that You would like all people to have … I pray for this supernatural peace beyond human understanding for all of us…in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
