2 Timothy 3:1-2But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, (NKJV)

The last days, or end of times as it has been called, has been talked about since Jesus walked the earth… Matthew 24:3Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”  (NKJV)

Jesus described the beginning of the end of the age this way, in…Matthew 24:6-8And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.  (NKJV)

With this troubled world we live in today, with all the hate and killing going on all over the globe…some say that we could be headed into the end of times right now…  But this end of the world as we know it has been predicted for over 2000 years…  I found one web site that lists over 200 predictions for the “End of the World”… (I did not verify its accuracy)  Here is the link for those who are interested in a little extra reading…  http://www.bible.ca/pre-date-setters.htm

We know Howard Camping’s last 2 predictions made in 1994 and on May 21, 2011 came and went… And there is still a prediction based on different sources, that December 21st of this year will be the finale of the world as we know it…    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_phenomenon

But I prefer to trust the Bible, and what Jesus tells us, when looking for His second coming… Matthew 24:36But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. 37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.”  (NKJV)

Jesus goes on to describe what many (including myself) call the “Rapture of the Church”, in…Matthew 24:40-51…  The Apostle Paul gives a description of this future event, in…1 Thessalonians 4:16-18… This scripture is used to back up my thoughts for a Pre-tribulation rapture, as read in…Revelation 3:10Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.  (NKJV)

The important point I am trying to make today, is that all of us must be ready at any time for the rapture, as I believe will take place… Here is a link for more info on what is known as “The Pre-tribulation Rapture”… http://www.raptureready.com/rr-pretribulation-rapture.html

The opening scripture has only some of the sinful traits of people that the Apostle Paul says Christians should stay away from…  The balance of these sinful attributes of these people can be found in…2 Timothy 3:3-5…  unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!  (NKJV)

My hope is that all readers will look at this list of sinful attributes, and do a self check on their own lives to be sure they are ready for the rapture…  It could come at any time…and those who are not Christians in God’s eyes will be left behind…

Heavenly Father, I pray Your Word will cut right to the very soul of those in need, just like a two edged sword; as written in…Hebrews 4:11-13…  I pray Father that all readers know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord, their Master, and their Savior…  Help all of us to come to the knowledge of this truth, that the gospel of Your Son Jesus Christ must be understood and obeyed, in order for You to grace any of us with the free gift of salvation…  I pray for Your grace and Your mercy to fall upon all of us…in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…

P.S.  The gospel of Christ is presented in the link below, to plant the seed toward salvation for those who want to become part of God’s family; to be sure they are righteous in God’s eyes, and filled with the awesome power of the Holy Spirit…

Just thought of another passage that is difficult to understand literally:
Luke 18:22 “Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.”

I know this is only a part of the full intent of this post, but I was wondering if you can explain in more detail what you mean & why you say above: “This scripture is used to back up my thoughts for a Pre-tribulation rapture, as read in…Revelation 3:10… ‘Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world'”. I don’t understand why, just by itself, that that part of the scripture which reads, “I…will keep you from the hour of trial..” would mean that there would be a rapture before the tribulation. Could it not possibly mean that the saved would be kept spiritually, rather than physically, from the hour of trial?

    • Sam, I am one who takes the Word of God, and uses the literal definition or meaning to be what God is trying to tell us through His Word… This is why I post the fact that these are my thoughts… Others may have a different view of what scripture reveals to them… I would welcome anyone’s thoughts as to why they believe the rapture would be after the tribulation period… I would like their thoughts to be backed up by scripture… I have already referred to 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18, where there is no sign of tribulation; and where the Lord descends (but does not return to walk on the earth), and meets the believers as well as the souls of the buried believers in the air; and they all go back to heaven…

Well, I’m not sure I understand what you are saying. For one to understand “keep you from the hour of trial” as a spiritual event is not to be taking it in non-literal sense.
Second, to take all passages in the Bible as literal statements would be to make some of them impossible to understand. For example – Matthew 25:33-34 “And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:” or John 6:53 “Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.” or John 1:29 “…Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”
Lastly, granted we want to express to others what the Word of God has meant to the lives we live, but as the Bible tells us in 2nd Peter 1:20, “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.”, our emphasis should be to endeavor to teach what God means & not just what it means to me individually.
