Romans 8:38-39… For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (NKJV)
Once Christians become one of God’s children by understanding and obeying the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ…I believe that salvation can never be lost by the Christian… The opening scripture is one of many in the Bible, which places me in the camp of…“Once Saved always Saved”, as a Christian…
This doesn’t mean that Christians can go right ahead and sin, after they are received into God’s kingdom as one of His children… God wants all of His children to be obedient to His will and His ways… And not only obedient to what God wants for His children…but willingly obedient…not begrudgingly obedient…Isaiah 1:19… If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land; (NKJV)
This means for example, that the Christian should look forward to church every week, because it is a time to gather with excitement and joy with other fellow believers as the body of Christ (Hebrews 10:25)…not because they have to fulfill their obligation because it is a sin if they miss church… This is only one of many false, works based, man made requirements that some religions give their church members… Jesus Himself warns us that these works will not have sins forgiven… Salvation is by God’s pure grace through saving faith alone in Jesus Christ…not by self-righteous works that are done in the name of the Lord…Ephesians 2:8-9…
Here is Jesus’ eye opening warning about this false works based belief for having sins forgiven by God…
Matthew 7:21-23… “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ ” (NKJV)
Getting back on track here, God promises to never leave nor forsake His children…Hebrews 13:5-6… Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” 6 So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” (NKJV)
A few key points for in this scripture: Christians should always be “content” with what God provides them; not greedy for more… And although the Holy Spirit is always dwelling with-in God’s children…this fear will only be swept aside by the Christian who allows God’s Helper, the Holy Spirit (John 14:26), to totally control their lives… This total control by the Holy Spirit is perfect love for the Lord, because of total surrender to Him…
The Apostle John explains this perfect love of being filled with the Holy Spirit, in this scripture, in…1 John 4:18… There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. (NKJV)
Perfect love for the Lord as a Christian, means that the Lord is first in their lives…and they love Him with all of their heart, all of their mind, and all of their soul…Jesus’ first and most important commandment…Matthew 22:36-38…
The Christian that puts their faith and trust in the Lord, will be righteous in His sight and walking in obedience to God’s will and God’s ways…by searching their own hearts and minds and confessing and repenting of any sins they find there…1 John 1:9… There is no better feeling of absolute peace and joy in a Christian’s life because of God’s pure grace, when God can look down and find His children living lives that are pleasing in His sight…
Heavenly Father, I pray Your Word would encourage and edify all of those who are suffering any doubts or fears that Satan and/or our fellow man had shackled them with… I pray Father that those in need of Your saving grace would be drawn in by You (John 6:44), and that they would find out what the gospel of Your Son Jesus Christ is all about and obey it, in order to be saved from their lifetime of sins… I pray for fears to be calmed and hearts to be filled with the love of Christ…in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
