It’s not uncommon for me to be drawn off tract to what I was going to write about yesterday… Here is the same opening scripture, so that I can write a little bit about the feeling of comfort for those believers, who absolutely know for sure they have guaranteed reservations in God’s mansion in heaven, when they die…
There are 2 scripture verses that come to mind, that reveal to me, that Christian’s should absolutely, positively know for sure they will be going to heaven when they die… It should never be… “I hope I am going to heaven”…Or… “I have been a good person, so I deserve to, or I believe I am going to heaven”… I explained yesterday, about what God requires of sinners to be forgiven of their sins, and know they are a Christian in God’s eyes, and heaven bound when they die…
When a sinner becomes a Christian in God’s eyes (not just a person’s own mind), there is a heart change; because God regenerates the sinners heart, when the Holy Spirit takes up permanent residence as a life long Helper…John 14:26… And it is the Holy Spirit Himself, which tells our spirit, that they are a child of God… There is absolutely no doubt, when this occurs… We see this in the Bible, as written by the Apostle Paul, in…
Romans 8:14 & 16…For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, (NKJV)
The other piece of scripture, giving the Christian confidence that they are a child of God, is this one written by the Apostle John, in…1 John 5:13… These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God. (NKJV)
Getting back to having a comfort level, knowing you have guaranteed reservations in God’s mansion… Jesus had to comfort His disciples, when Jesus first told them He was going away to be with His Father in heaven… The following scripture gave them comfort; and should give all of us Christians comfort as well…
John 14:1-4…“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.” (NKJV)
This scripture should settle the heart of any Christian, who positively knows that they have a guaranteed reservation for an eternity in God’s mansion in heaven…
Heavenly Father, I pray that all readers are comforted by the truth from Your Word today… And Father, I pray those that You don’t recognize as one of Your children, would not find comfort nor sleep easy, until they are received into Your family by Your free gift of grace alone, after understanding and obeying the gospel of Your Son Jesus Christ… I thank You and praise You Lord for who You are…and pray that Your grace would be extended to all of those in need…in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
