Ephesians 3:20… Now to Him who is able to do exceedinglyabundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, (NKJV)
Yesterday I wrote about the “love of Christ” which “passes knowledge”… Whose knowledge ?? Our feeble mortal knowledge… We are nothing in and of ourselves… We have no supernatural powers, like Superman… But the God that created the heavens and the earth ??… Well, it’s so hard to wrap your mind around the vastness, the enormity, the immense power this God would have to have, to just speak into existence the universe and all that is in it…Genesis 1-31…
I know that many people have a hard time with Creation, and all of the miracles that are presented in the Bible… But when the Christian just stops, and looks around them at nature in all its glory…it should be easy to comprehend that all of this didn’t just evolve from some big bang theory and a microbe…
But why do so many people not believe in Creation ?? It is because of their lack of faith… God gives a person the saving faith that they need to believe in Him, in order to become a Christian… It is a gift from God… The Apostle Paul explains this, in…Ephesians 2:8-9… For by grace you have been saved throughfaith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. (NKJV)
And it’s this faith with-in the believer, which allows them to believe in Creation… Why ?? It’s not because this is what God tells us through His inerrant, infallible Word, the Bible… It is “the power” of the Holy Spirit with-in the believer, which will totally transform their mind…
The Apostle Paul writes about this, in…Romans 12:1-2… I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (NKJV)
The opening scripture explains what I am trying to convey here… I believe the “Him” in the opening verse, is referring to the Holy Spirit that God gives to the new Christian…as a lifelong, live-in Helper…John 14:26… But God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit form the Trinity…God as three divine persons… This Christian doctrine, is considered to be a mystery of the Christian faith… Here is a link for some extra reading on the Trinity… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trinity
Just like the Creation by God is beyond all that we can understand…so is the power of the Holy Spirit, God has given to His children… It is the Holy Spirit that fills us with the love of Christ, so that we are capable of loving even our enemies…Matthew 5:43-44… And it is the Holy Spirit that provides the supernatural peace which surpasses all of our mortal understanding…Philippians 4:6-7…
The best practical example I can think of, of this God given peace; was when I was at the celebration for my niece Jennifer a couple of years ago… Family and friends of Jenn met in a memorial service, to share the fond memories of her life… Jenn went home to be with the Lord at the age of only 39… My two sisters, my Mother, and I…along with much of our family and many of her friends, had absolute peace, without many tears… We had this peace, because we knew Jennifer was with the Lord… But we also had this peace with-in our own hearts, given to us by the Holy Spirit… In our own strength, we would have all been crying from start to finish…
So if you’re a Christian, who is trying to find a job in your own strength…or working on a project…or preparing a speech…tap into the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit, by allowing Him to have total control of your life… I remember giving a 15 minute speech at my church, the day I was baptized… I don’t remember a word that I said… It was the Holy Spirit that gave me the words to speak…
The Holy Spirit, if left in total control of the Christian’s life…will be “able to do exceedinglyabundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us”… For this power beyond our imagination, the Christian must humbly submit to the leading of the Holy Spirit, and be walking in the Spirit… This means they must be walking in sweet fellowship with God, with all of their sins confessed and repented of…1 John 1:9… God can open doors that we can’t even begin to budge in our own strength… We just have to get out of our own way, and let God take control of our lives…
Heavenly Father, I pray that anyone who has not experienced the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit, would be urged by You to take the time to make sure they understand, and have obeyed the gospel of Your Son Jesus Christ… The Bible is clear that this must be done, in order to be forgiven of one’s sins (2 Thessalonians 1:8-9)… I pray Father, that You would draw the unredeemed to Yourself (John 6:44), and that You would regenerate the hearts of those that You don’t now know as Your children… And Lord…I pray that any of Your children who have allowed sins or self control to break the sweet fellowship of walking with You…would confess and turn from those sins (1 John 1:9), to again be re-aligned with You and Your will for their lives… I pray for this perfect peace, that the fullness of the Holy Spirit will bring…in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
